Seems to come a few times a day, and I've started to notice it's normally after food. Is the baby bean stealing all the goodness before I get it? Smile have a few other symptoms, wonder if anyone else had the food /dizzy thing too. am in very early Pregnancy 4.5wks)

I did but a bit further along than you. I noticed it while out walking the dog (which was a bit worrying as I was in a field with no one around). Usually a glass of orange juice sorted me out. I think mine may have been related to blood sugar so I changed my breakfasts and that seemed to sort it out. It lasted bout 2 weeks in all.

I did from very early on but that was because I have naturally low blood pressure and as soon as I got pregnant it dipped really really low. I'm 34 weeks now and its getting lower every time i see the MW. the hill near us is a real effort these days!
Early on if I let myself get too hungry I could feel really faint and horrible - perhaps this is what you are experiencing - make sure you have snacks in your bag etc incase.

Generally dizziness in early pregnancy is either caused by low blood pressure or low blood sugar. Make sure you're drinking plenty (to bump up your BP), regular snacks and meals and its worth making sure you have enough salt in your diet. All of these should help. If it doesn't improve, it's worth seeing your GP or midwive.

Thank you everyone... I feel like I'm snacking almost all of the time (nuts /seeds /similar), but maybe it's still not enough.
Am Not the best at drinking plain water, though am drinking a lot of herbal (not tanined or caffeined) tea, so there's probably something in that too
Thank you!

God, yes. I get dizzy with low blood sugar/pressure anyway but it seems to be especially bad this time. (I'm 8 weeks)

I know I've been told to make sure I keep up my salt intake, especially if I'm drinking a lot of water, since lots of water can dilute the salt in your system, which could also explain my cravings for salt bread perhaps..

I think after eating the blood flow to your stomach increases to aid digestion, unfortunately that can leave it a bit short in other areas (like your head!). Think the only thing is to eat light meals that digest easily if it is that. I was dizzy for about a fortnight at the 5-7 week mark, but think it was my body adjusting to my newly dropped blood pressure. Luckily it eased up a bit but it was horrible, especially when the nausea kicked in as well. Hope it passes for you!

Thanks ladysnap! Light meals, can def do that. Glad it doesn't last too long Smile does it (unlikely I know) have any correlation to the sex of the baby to be?

Not aware of any correlation, although I'm sure there will be an old wives tale out there somewhere that would argue otherwise! I've been told by loads of people I'm having a girl because of how sick I've been; guess I'll find out in April...!

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 03/03/2013 21:52

Dizziness was my first symptom - I did the test just to make sure I wasn't pregnant, because I thought I was going down with something and wanted to dose myself up!
