Nursing Bras! I'm pregnant not blind!

Am I not allowed to be a new breast feeding mum and feel sexy with it?

All I want is attractive nursing bras that dont look like something my Granny would wear back in 1940.

With dc1 I felt like a sack of potatoes for ages and refuse to do that again this time. It doesnt exactly help with the mental health issues post birth if my boobs are being held together with something that has not shape and with cups big enough to put my weekly shop in.

So ladies have you found nice nursing bras? Ones that give you shape, allow for cleavage and dont have cups so big they almost go over your shoulders.

Agent provocateur did some, not sure if they still do.And Elle McPherson. Also got some from La Senza but only the Oxford St branch stocked them. All were nice & not at all frumpy but there is still a limit to how attractive non-wired bras with milky breast pads in can actually be..

Would also recommend hot milk, comfortable supportive and look great.

TheSurgeonsMate · 01/03/2013 10:07

Yy, Hot Milk. With matching pants.

RememberingMyPFEs · 01/03/2013 10:13

An additional YY for HotMilk. As I'm larger in boobage than your average bear I struggle but Hot Milk are comfy and sexy even in small-tent sizes.
ASOS sell em online and often have markdown...

You can pick them up second hand on ebay too.

kittykatsforever · 01/03/2013 10:24

Yes to hot milk and Elle McPherson ( there is a retail shop near me (Cheshire oaks- Chester, may be more elsewhere) and I've found some for just £5!!!

ButteryJam · 01/03/2013 10:55

kittykatsforever :) I need to get to Cheshire Oaks! Which shop was it in?

ButteryJam · 01/03/2013 11:02

In which week should you get measured for post-birth sizing??

suzyrut · 01/03/2013 11:03

I can recommend topshop though I've only seen them on line, no "full cup"s and not too expensive either! xx

milkyjo · 01/03/2013 11:06

My DH bought a nice one (at my request) for me for Christmas. Amoralia is the make link. They are expensive but the one he bought me is so comfortable, I am almost too worried to wear it when my milk comes in and makes a mess of it! I am really small chested, I go from 34A to 36B and a lot of the ranges don't do smaller sizes in the designs I like. I have got those granny m and s ones - they are lovely and comfy but I save those for not going out of the house!

My controversial answer is to adapt your usual bras. During my first pregnancy I had a nightmare with my boobs, they went from a FF to HH. The 2 nursing bras I could buy looked awful, I had monoboob, they left so much flesh pressing together I constantly smelt and had terrible/painful rashes that I couldn't clear up. I felt terrible. I had been fitted correctly in Bravissimo, so this was as good as it was going to get Sad At no point did I suffer with any blocked duct or similar. So when I fell pregnant with DS2 I decided not again. Underwired bras were starting to become available, so I read up on that. I decided I was going to buy a well fitting, nice underwired bra and adapt it. So off I went to Bravissimo with DS2, 2 weeks old, got a lovely bra, chopped the fittings off my old bras and sewed them on. The clips broke as they were holding the weight differently, so I bought the bag clips, the plastic slide in ones that you squeeze to open usually on rucksacks. This has worked brilliantly. The 2 large clips can't be seen though my clothes, they sit in the hollow just above my boob, I get to wear a bra that really suits me and I like. I never had any any problems with blocked ducts as I made sure they fitted well. I felt and looked so much better, saved money and was happy, all for half hour of sewing. Not for everybody, but worked for me.

Blimey, there's no way I could get my b-fing H cups into my normal B cups!

cupcake78 · 01/03/2013 12:33

Brilliant ladies thanks! I am also rather well endowed in the boobage area but like I said I flatly refuse to wear Grannie bras when I will feel like a deflated, hormonal, sleep deprived cow.

Did I write that badly Zule? Blush I meant the normal type of bra that you would wear in the correct new size. It's extra important that your bra fits perfectly if you want to wear underwires.

Ah, I understand now!
