Long story short, I'm a nanny for a family 40hours a week. When I started it was part time 18 hours but changed within 3 weeks. However I have just had my payslips from my employer and she is still only declaring 2 days a week.

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and now really worried about my SMP..she isn't aware I'm pregnant. Not really sure what to do I've been working 40 hours and don't want to only be entitled to 18hours on SMP as that's been all she is declaring.

Help anyone.

How long has this been going on for - weeks/months? Have you spoken to your boss? Is it possible that she has forgotten to change your hours with the payroll bureau? Having said that, how does she know how much to pay you now? I used to rely on the payroll bureau emailing me the payslip in advance so I could transfer the appropriate amount to my nanny's account.

Sorry, you might want to transfer this to employment, not everyone checks in pregnancy. As my youngest is now almost 12, I'm not sure how I stumbled in here myself!

I'm an employer and from what I understand if you are contracted for 18 hours per week BUT your payslip shows you have been working more hours on a weekly basis then you will be entitled to more SMP.....however...if your family that you care for are not declaring these hours, and it sounds like they are not then it sounds like you nee to sort it out. You've got until 24 weeks pregnancy to fill in your maternity allowance form so as you're still early on i would look into it and find out why these 'extra' hours are not declared on your payslip.....hope that helps
