Sorry its not the nicest of topics Blush

I'm 38+5 and noticed on Friday that toilet roll was smeared with fresh red blood when wiping, after the obligatory panic I have checked and double checked its definitely from the rear!, I assumed it would go but its still happening.

Upon investigation it would appear that there is some sort of lump where there used to be a pile and a line which I can only assume is a tear. Its not big and not painful but at times it is itchy or at worst uncomfortable.

I had to have treatment for constipation about 3 Weeks ago which involved an enema so the area has been aggravated.

Anyway should I see a GP or will it go on its own? I've never had to go to a GP for this sort of thing but I'm extra worried as I'm booked in for ELCS next Tuesday and obviously this wound is not ideal Hmm

Sorry for long post!

You could try Anusol for a couple of days, see if that helps.

Poor you, I had this in pregnancy (and after!!). Anusol is very good, it numbs things and helps it to heal. Could you also try a senna-based laxative (which is safe in pregnancy) like Senokot?

But given you're booked in for ELCS I'd see your GP or midwife. Though hopefully, given that you're having what my dad calls "the sunroof delivery", something "down there" isn't so bad, I reckon they'd be more concerned if you were planning a vaginal delivery.

Luckily mine had healed by the time ds was born, but it came back with a vengeance afterwards. I'd the whole house on a prune juice diet for weeks!

All the best next Tuesday and have loads of fun meeting your new addition!!!

Thank you :)

Will give midwife a call this morning rather than take up an appointment with GP.

I've been drinking prune juice too but might start up the Lactulose again to ease up a bit., who says pregnancy isn't glamorous :o

An anal fissure pains alot - it basically has been described as broken glass going through. If you haven't had that type of pain, then that's probably a good sign.
