Pessary for prolapse - anyone else had one?

After the grim forceps birth of DC1 nearly 5 years ago my pelvic floor is a wreck. I have a bladder and bowel prolapse that loads of physio made no difference to. When I had DC2 2 years ago I had a pessary in to try and hold everything up from about 14 weeks until I was in labour. I now have another one in as I am 20 weeks with DC3.

I have never heard of anyone else having this even on all the ragged bits threads. I would love to know if anyone else has had a pessary in pregnancy and, if so, by what means were your children born. I had a natural second birth and was induced on my due date under supervision. I keep being told that the damage is already done (and is made worse merely by pregnancy) and that I shouldn't have a CS as I will need to have reconstructive surgery to hoik everything up at some point in the future. I would really appreciate any thoughts on this - it's not the kind of problem that you can just chat to your colleagues about...

Hi there!

I had a third degree tear with dc1, subsequent continence issues and bladder and bowel prolapse (yep, can see why we don't discuss this with colleague

All subsequent babies have so far been vb, though have always been offered elcs.

Had pessary put in about 20 weeks with dc4, and requested it at 14 weeks this time around.

Dc5 due next month but just recently have felt the pessary isn't given me the support I need, but up til now have ben very happy with it.

Thanks a lot Silent Mammoth for the response, I didn't expect many takers for this...

If you are still about, has it been suggested that you will have to have yours fixed when you have "completed your family" and did you see anyone about the extent of the problems whilst pregnant ?
