SPD and weight gain

Just wondering if there are any other ladies with SPD/PGP who are unable to exercise at all and how it is affecting their weight. I have been housebound for 3 weeks now and am worried about putting on a lot of weight. I'm trying to watch what I eat but am I fighting a losing battle?

If my experience in preg 1 is anything to go by then unf yes.

Get the best physio help you can, do everything they tell you (tummy 'switched on' all the time and clams, lower leg raises and glut minimi strengthening exercises until the cows come home) and hopefully you'll stay mobile. When I stopped being able to walk all together was when the rot truly set in.

I've been in the same boat for 5 weeks now, you have my sympathy. It really does suck.

I can't really offer much in terms of the weight gain as I'm still suffering nausea/lack of appetite but I guess it's a case of avoiding boredom eating, eating lots of healthy stuff, making sure there's lots of fruit, nuts and seeds to hand if you do feel like snacking.

Have you tried researching how many cals you need when sedentary, adding in the extra 300 you need for the baby? You could do a diet plan to minimise weight gain, and it's something to do to pass the time!

I've done ok this time due to baby liking healthy foods but it still adds up. Have barely left the house since Xmas and mainly in a chair so doubt I'm burning much off. Unfortunately the weight makes things worse too!

How long have you left?

I always found the combination of breastfeeding and generally being able to walk again burned off any weight gained. SPD is horrid you all haven sympathies.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm not due til mid May so got a little while left. So far I've put on 1st so I think I'm still within the guidelines for how much weight you should put on. I don't want to get too complacent though because that's generally when I let things slip.

I know it sounds a bit shallow talking about weight gain but I just feel so miserable I don't want this to be an added problem, especially as it's hard enough walking around as it is!

I had severe SPD with both my pregnancies. I put on 4 stone in the first, and 3 in the second. Sad
