Advice for Pelvic Girdle Pain/SPD practitioner Glasgow

Hi,

After a few weeks of an uncomfy hip I think I finally have to concede that this is a problem and I need to get it looked at. I'll refer myself to the NHS physio on Monday but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for self-help and a private practitioner in the Glasgow area? Don't really mind if it's physio/osteopath/chiropracter just so long as they have some experience and know what they're doing. I thought I remembered someone mentioning a specialist web-site with a list of practitioners with an interest/experience but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance x

i don't know about help in your area as i live in somerset but i found a support band really helped my SPD and a pillow between legs at night and sleeping on left hand side. also when getting in an out of car keep legs together and swing them round rather than putting a leg in and stepping in if that made sense. warm baths helped soothe the pain for me a i had it so bad, i would stay in the bath for well over an hour at times :-/ hope this helps x

I don't know about private but the southern general physios run a weekly pelvic pain clinic, which includes an exercise class. (A class for physio exercises as opposed to zumbaWink .). I suffered terribly with my first pregnancy - and for a year after because I never sought help. They sorted my pain out completely within 2 weeks of going to them in my second pregnancy and it never returned. I can't recommend them highly enough.

If you contact the Pelvic Girdle Partnership (www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/) they will send you a list of recommended practitioners in your area. They are also great for general support and very quick on email! :)

Thanks for all the support and info - sounds like I'm not doomed to deteriorate to needing crutches after all! Will get onto it on Monday.
