18+5 but not felt a movement yet

I am expecting DC3 in July and am starting to worry as I haven't felt a movement yet. I saw a consultant last week (BMI 38) and he gave me an unexpected scan on a portable machine and he/she was moving around lots, I just haven't felt anything. I thought I would have felt something by now. I do have IBS, so is it possible I am feeling movement and am mistaking it for the usual IBS bubbly, windy feeling belly?

Could it be because I am overweight? I have never been this fat and prenant before Blush so don't know if this could affect it.

I didn't feel anything till about then, maybe even a week or two after (I'm also overweight but it's my first). It can be to do with weight or how the baby's positioned. nhs website days you'll 'probably' feel movement at 17/18 weeks if it's not your first but every woman, and pregnancy, are different.

I was worried before I started feeling anything but I'm 27 weeks now and feel wiggling and kicking all the time Smile x

Hi there
I didn't really start feeling a lot til I was about 20 weeks then it just felt like popcorn crackling. I am now nearly 31 weeks and his movements are strong and regular so try not to worry too much. If you want to put your mind at rest speak to midwife x

I almost never felt my second pregnancy. No idea why. Felt the first all the time. The second I felt at 26 weeks and from then on I probably felt her move once every 4-5 days on average. It drove me nuts. I couldn't account for why I couldn't feel her and neither could the midwife/doc as her movements were normal on scans. It was really strange. I did wonder if my first CS had damaged sensitivity but the doc said no.

It was worrying, especially when you get to the stage where they want you to feel it 10 times a day and I wasn't even feeling her twice a week. DH never got to feel her kick either and we never once saw my stomach move. But once she was born, she turned out to be a very still sleeper so maybe that was why? Very active when awake but she sleeps like a statue.

Hopefully you'll feel it in a few weeks. Maybe you are less sensitive to the small movements because of the IBS and once the movements are bigger you'll feel them.

Thank you everyone, you've really helped to reassure me. I think I worry because we had a horrible pregnancy with DS. We didn't know right up until he was born if we were going to be coming home with a baby and I think this has made me a bit paranoid.

I will learn to relax and good luck to those that are also expecting!!
