Accrued hols for term-time/part-time worker

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can answer this question as HR, so far can't and expect me to wait another 3 weeks, after waiting 4 already to find out the answer! I am due to start my maternity leave on May 10th, and plan to take 9 months which will take me up to mid Feb, i think. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew if I would accrue the summer hols, October week etc and be able to add these hols onto the end of my mat leave.

Thanks in advance :)

Not if you are teacher's pay and conditions. Very unlikely if you work in education at all. Ultimately you missed when the holiday took place so you can't bank 13 weeks.

If you work for a private company then possibly but again I think unlikely. Go back for one day before feb half term and you get paid for the hols.

Thanks. I work in a college library, which is a private company and earn about 12 K a year, teachers wages would be good though. lol I get paid during the hols anyway as I am term-time my wages are reduced down to cover 12 months.

Don't know it depends on your company's policy. I work for a private company and accrue bank hols & holidays pro rata over the year.

The policy isn't very clear for term-time staff and HR are unsure so far.

Presumably your leave entitlement is based on you working 39/52 weeks each year? If so, I would imagine that you would accrue at your normal rate - you will still have a full years entitlement over the 12 months even though you are on mat leave for 9 months of these. I wouldn't have thought that you would acrrue your leave during the time that you are off but maybe post in the employment issues section for better qualified advice.
