How many weeks for c section and GD?

I have gestational diabetes (but well managed for now!) and had a previous C section so going to opt for one this time round...

Does anyone know how many weeks they would usually do this at?

My DH has been invited on a stag weekend when I'll be 38 weeks and I said its probably best he doesn't go but he thinks I'll have at least another week before they do anything...

(And he needs to know now so he can book!) annoying right??!

Thanks Smile

I was induced for GD at 38 weeks which I think is pretty standard. No experience of C section though

C-sections being pushed to 39 weeks now whenever possible. I've got 38 weeks(+4) but took some discussion to get that. Whether GD affects it I don't know.
I wouldn't fancy dh being away that close to birth.

Blimey I would tell him not to book, I can't believe he is even thinking about it. Surely he could decide last minute and kip on a camp bed in some other mates' room if there was no sign?

I don't know the answer to your question though.

But I would be having serious words if my husband wanted to go away to a stag weekend at any point in my pregnancy, the baby and I might need him here!

I was induced at 37+5 for GD. My DH usually travels a lot for his job and he was on strict instruction that no travel was to happen after 35 weeks. No way would I have let him book a stag do for when I was 38 weeks (even if I didn't have GD!).

I work in a diabetes obstetric services. It would depend on what treatment you are on. For example, for ladies on insulin it's 38 weeks. For metformin or diet only, 40 weeks max.

However, diabetes often "progresses" throughout the course of pregnancy, so if you are on diet only at 30 weeks, there is a reasonable chance you'll end up on insulin at 38 weeks.

Different units have different policies in terms of what they do, so do ask your care team.

But a stag do at 38 weeks would be a no from me, without doubt.

Good luck.
