Integrated Bath & Changing Table recommendations?

Hi there,

I have a bad back and am worried about bending over to bathe baby when they are very little. I was wondering if any of you had found any good integrated bath and changing tables so that you can be standing when you bathe/change baby?

I saw this one but I am not sure if that's a bit pricey or not?

Any other recommendations?

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!

Sorry, just had to get that out to you! Trying to hold a slippery, wet baby while lowering the top of the changing table is scary as fuck nigh on impossible, I used a friend's once and it was a terrible design!

Bathe the baby in the kitchen sink, and put changing mat on the worktop near the sink if you will struggle with bending over.

Yup, use the sink. Those things are a terrible design and draining them looked like a right faff.

Then you can get a nice changing table for dressing and nappies. But beware, it may have a very short shelf life if you have a roller!

Could you buy a plastic baby bath, then put it on kitchen counter or table to bath your baby?

Green- the problem with that is getting the water out afterwards. Unless you have an able bodied helper who can clean up later, doing that with a bad back would be a bit of a bugger I would have thought.

If I used the bathroom sink does that mean I would have to disinfect it every time before I washed baby in it, as people would have been washing their hands in it all day? Sorry stupid question, but I genuinely have no idea

I had a mamas and papas changing table/bath from argos and it was actually a lifesaver for me as I had an EMCS so I found it quite difficult to bend. The bath is a bit of a faff to fill and empty i used to use a washing up bowl and filled that and carried to and from the bath. As for taking the baby out of the bath then onto the mat, I used to lift her out of the bath onto a towel I had draped across my front wrapped her up and then held her with one arm as i pulled up the mat but, never found it difficult. When she was a bit older I used to bath her in the sink and it honestly never occured to me to disinfect the sink first!

No. Babies need clean, not sterile

Unless you have a very cold kitchen, or a bathroom sink with one of those surround units, I'd suggest the kitchen sink with a bad back. More surfaces to lay things level and close to hand.

you can just use a normal table and fill up small bath in sink beforehand ... I have been changing dd on mat placed on dressing table.

Yes its like Amanda says, I don't think I could carry a full bath of water around. The change table had wheels, which is part of the attraction.

Makes you wonder how anyone didn't go stir crazy in the days of tin baths though, doesn't it. No wonder a bath was a weekly (at best) event

Another one here saying don't bother! We were given a second hand one which we used maybe 3 or 4 times, so glad we didn't buy one.
And having to get my DH to go fill and empty it was a pain. We ended up using a plastic baby bath that cost less than a tenner, and doing nappy changes on our bed.
