Dental treatment whilst pregnant

Quick question!

I have 3 cavities courtesy of horrendous morning sickness and the dentist won't fill them. He said they didn't like to do it until I have had the baby because its a stressful experience. This was three months ago and now I am worried they are getting worse.

Has anyone else been told this?

Is my (nhs) dentist lazy/talking crap? Should I get a second opinion?

Advice please as I don't want to pay for a dentist unnecessarily x

Dentistry is free up to 12 months after your baby is born so there is no saving for the dentist to wait. If they are amalgum (mercury) fillings he will try to hold off until you aren't pregnant as the baby will take up mercury faster than you, and is more likely to be harmed by it. If the fillings cannot wait ask him to do composite ones.

Get a second opinion. If you leave decay it will spread. If your dentist won't place amalgam while you are pregnant (s)he should at least remove the caries and temporise them.

I disagree with momb re amalgam safety over composite - both have been suggested to be harmful, neither are proven to be so.
