Thrush in early pregnancy

Hi ladies, I am around 4 and a half weeks pregnant (very early I know!) but seem to be suffering from what I believe to be thrush. I noticed last night when I did a pee it felt slightly nippy and sharp, and this morning I have some extra discharge and feel generally hot and a little incomfortable 'down there'
I have had thrush before and used the canestone pessary and cream to treat which got rid of it, but have heard that you cannot take this during pregnancy?
What do you suggest doing if any of you have suffered from this during the first few weeks ? I had an early m/c a couple of months ago and this is will be my first baby so I am super scared about anything that could cause harm/another mc. Can thrush be harmful at this stage?

Thanks in advance! X

You can use the external cream and the pessary, don't use the applicator just a finger so it doesnt go too far. If you've got your maternity exemption thing go to the doctor and get a prescription so it's free. You will be okay, it won't hurt the baby.

What tubbs said. My doctor told me both were fine. I did use the applicator but only inserted it about an inch.

I had horrific thrush when I was first pregnany - I asked my GP and she said that the latest advice was cream only, NO PESSARY... she did say that the advice had only just changed and that until then they had been prescribing pessary, but to be safe I would go to doc before using anything other than cream... and as cream normally sorts mild thrush anyway I opted not to risk it.

Just think of it as the first of many hideous miraculous pregnancy symptoms!!

My doctor also said no pessary, especially in 1st trimester. I've stuck with the cream, though can't say it's been super helpful (at weeks I've had it come and go 6 times so far!)

I checked with my Dr this week, and she said the pessary was fine, I wish they'd be consistent!

Also, according to the instructions in the packet, the cream alone won't sort it. It eases the symptoms but doesn't resolve the underlying cause.
