Measuring big for dates?

I'd be interested to hear from others who may have had the same issue as I'm getting quite worried (it's probably nothing!).

I'm currently 30+5 with my first child (I'm 24). Everything has been going perfectly though at my last three appointments I've measured increasingly larger than expected. I'm currently measuring 4 weeks ahead (up from 2 weeks ahead a few weeks ago). I had a scan at my last hospital appointment and I have a normal amount of fluid, just a big baby! I don't have GD and my blood pressure etc. are all perfectly normal. They so far have said to just wait until the usual 42 weeks until induction, I'm only 5ft and quite petite so I'm terrified he'll be a big 10lb-er! I know I should be happy he's growing big and strong but I can't seem to stop worrying about this Sad.

Hi, I can't offer you any advice but I'm in quite a similar position, I'm 23, 32 weeks as also measuring 4 weeks ahead with my first! At the scan they just explained that she was a bit of a porker but otherwise fine. I wouldn't worry if I were you, childbirth isn't going to be fun whether you have a 6lber or 10lber. And the scans/ fundal measurements are notorious for being wrong anyways.

My 5"1 friend managed to squeeze out an 11lb boy last month with not so much as a tear. You'll be fine Smile.

Am currently 34 wish with dc2 and both ds1 and this baby have measured 2/3 weeks big (I do have gd tho) but throughout my 1st they were constantly telling me ds was going to be a 10lber.. I was very scared!

Turns out he was 8lb 9 and I had excessive waters (hence why this time it has been noted that I have polyhydromnios)

I don't think the scans are always spot on but that's only from my experience x

Sorry I should mention I was induced but he ended up being born at 39.1wks so not that early Smile

I measured larger for dates with ds1 he was 2wk late and weighed 6ib 8. So quite wrong there

Ds2 tiny bump and measuring smaller than dates, he was born 40wks weighing 9ib. So wrong again.

My cousin was measuring 4 ahead and had a baby 10days before I had ds2 weighing 7ib 15

So from what I've seen they have no bearing on the size of the baby. Even the scans are not that accurate, a friend of mine had one at 38wks and baby was estimated to be 10ib 2, 2 weeks later he was born weighing 8ib 5.

Good luck you will be fine no matter what, our bodys are designed to do this :) xx

Definitely don't worry, the measurements often aren't accurate. At 20 weeks my baby was small, at 28 weeks I was several weeks ahead at 30 weeks I was on schedule... Who knows what will come next. Measuring big can be due to fluid or wind or baby or a bit of everything. When my mum had her 4th she was massive, everyone ( except dr) said it must be twins ( no scans then) he was a 7lb baby!

Try not to worry! I've had three big babies (all over 10lb) and never measured big for some reason so it's not certain that your DC is going to be a big baby.
