In financial terms has it been a struggle going from 1 child to 2 ?

Have a dd age 4 and now am 5 weeks pregnant, we're worrying about the cost , we have the bigger essentials (cot, pushchair, etc) but day to day living?

Can someone put me at ease!

The biggest increases we found was nappies (we had a toddler still in nappies when DS2 was born).

If you've still got clothes etc. from your first DC then that's a lot or money saved.

If you'll be formula feeding then that will be another expense but if you'll be breastfeeding that won't be as much of an issue.

The big difference is when it comes to child care - nursery/childminder for two is obviously more expensive than for one.

We were living in a one bedroom flat when I got pregnant with my DS2 so we felt we needed to have more space so that cost money in terms of moving and then increased rent for a bigger place.

Depending on your circumstances you should get some more child benefit which will help.

Sorry have rambled and not really helped!

Thank you for replying!

House size : fine we have a small spare room

Work: I work part time evenings and every other weekend so childcare not an issue

I have worked out for our tax credits based on our current income we would be about £60 per week better off - then minus nappies/formula.
But I am unsure if this is going to change drastically when the universal credit is in place as I know nothing about it !?

We have all furniture it is just clothes / food / nappies . When I write it down it doesn't seem too much but we are already having to budget and have no "luxuries" due to finances ATM
