Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Waters went at 2.30am - I'm in hospital - been admitted til tomorrow morning but just not really sure what's going to happen now? They are starting me on antibiotics but then will let me go home tomorrow morning which I feel a bit freaked out about!

Hi MrsB - is your induction still booked for tomorrow? Have you been in hospital or at home? Hope you're not worrying too much Smile

Mine wasn't waters breaking it was really bad contractions and a positive fetal fibronectin test. Still getting the odd twinges and had another show so I'm not sure this little guy is going to wait too much longer!

Keep us posted as to how you are. Try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know!)

Hi SayCool

Yes it's still booked for tomorrow - I was in hospital for 2 days then got sent home until tomorrow morning so it's been a week since my waters have gone.

I had a few twinges in the night last night and now I've had a bit of pinky blood so not sure whether I should call hospital again or not. I've got really low back pain like sciatica as well.

Sorry to hear that you've had bad contractions - it must be worrying and also very difficult to stay rested. I'm glad they didn't ask me to rest as I was up all night the other night with ds who was projectile vomiting every half hour!

I will try and keep you all posted - thank goodness for smartphones eh! Grin

hi, this happened to me too, my waters went at 34+6 and I gave birth at 35+2. dd weighed 5lb 5oz and spent a week in scbu as she had trouble feeding and needed treatment for jaundice. now she is a thriving 7 week old and is gaining weight well.

in terms of the birth, I was told that at 35 weeks the risk of infection were roughly the same as the risks associated with prematurity, so they left it up to me to decide whether I wanted drugs to delay the labour or drugs to induce the labour. I decided to do neither and just wait to see what happened. in the end I went into labour naturally. I couldn't have the lovely home water birth I'd planned, but I wasn't hooked up to monitors the whole time either, so i could move around lots, and it was fine. the hospital had a tens machine which I borrowed.

if you plan to bf, my advice would be to read up on bfing preterm babies now -there's lots of info on here or through bliss. dd's arrival took us by surprise and i hadn't been to antenatal classes yet or read anything about bfing. as a result I felt quite overwhelmed by all of the contradictory advice given by scbu nurses, some of whom were great and really supported bfing, others less so. if your DC can't suck initially then it is vital to start expressing, and this needs some dedication when you are recovering from birth and staying on a postnatal ward. the hospital should have a pump you can use and somewhere to store milk if needed.

good luck!

Congratulations MrsBugsy, hope your DD continues to thrive.

That's really useful advice regards the bfing.

Thanks
