Paracetamol - that's all I think.

PiccadillyCircus · 26/04/2006 09:44

Paracetemol is safe. What stage of pregnancy are you at?

biglips · 26/04/2006 09:46

only paracetemol during your pg

lucy5 · 26/04/2006 09:47

1g is safe for paracetamol, congrtulations! I had headaches early in my pregnancy with dd they're awful.

lucy5 · 26/04/2006 09:53

also those fever patches which cool the head (you can get special migraine ones but the children's ones look exactly the same) might do something to help..temp (hot or cold) often gives relief for headaches

luvlymum · 26/04/2006 09:53

I meant Congratulations on your pregnancy, not on the paracetamol thing, hope this makes sense.

luvlymum · 26/04/2006 09:55

Maybe the tablets will be easier than soluble paracetamol those taste awful!!

blueshoes · 26/04/2006 10:00

Paracetamol. Confirmed by midwife and GP. But GP said to me yesterday that latest studies show an possible link between paracetamol in pregnancy and asthma in baby, although one or two doses a day should be fine.

I am still taking it for my headaches, particularly in the morning Grin

jstbcs · 26/04/2006 10:33

are u drinikng enough water? you can get dehydrated really easily in early stages of preg and thatr can cause headaches...

blueshoes · 26/04/2006 10:51

jstbs, good point. I seem to feel better in the mornings after my cupatea.

jstbcs · 26/04/2006 10:55

tea? hmmm... caffiene withdrawls then? but remember, if u drink tea or coffee u r supposed to have an extra cup of water per cup as tea/coffe are diretics and with dehydrate you more!

Louba · 26/04/2006 15:50

I had those evil banging headaches in early pregnancy - they nearly drove me mad! I took Paracetamol when it got too much - but you MUST try and drink 2 litres of water everyday. Tea is quite bad for making you dehydrated to echo jstbcs post!! Water is the key honestly - it really really works! Not only good for headaches, but helps with skin, constipationWinkand tiredness...

blueshoes · 26/04/2006 18:33

ok, jstbcs/louba, water it is Smile

webwoman05 · 28/04/2006 22:09

You could try 4Head which is a kind of stick thing that you rub across your head (apparently safe in pregnancy - I used it after a recommendation here on Mumsnet - and I have a healthy 9 month old!). It certainly did the trick with me but paracetamol is apparently fine in moderation.

The tip about being dehydrated is so true - try mint tea - it will also help with any heartburn -I'm still hooked even now. I found that normal tea with milk made me throw up.

Hope you start to feel better.

the headache strips worked wonders for me. And, I was assured that paracetaml is fine. With dd1 i used to get terrible headaches until I started drinking more water.

I've found a lavender sented wheat bag really helps, you can cool it in the fridge.
