Would you go to a concert at 8 months pregnant?

My friend has tickets to see Pink and has asked me to go...

I really want to!! But the volume, the jostling?

Is it a stupid decision to go?

No I wouldn't and I've had 3 babies.

I'm sure I read a pg lady mc at a take that concert and she was quite heavily pg. could well be wrong. And of course it could have been coincidence.

But all the jostling would concern me.

If you have seats I would. I wouldn't if you were standing. Baby is quite well protected inside the womb I wouldn't be worried about that just how comfatable you will be.

I'm in the same boat, my friend wants us to go to see the yeah yeah yeahs, and I will be a month and a week away from dd. really want to, but it's not seated. Arrrrggggh! I feel your pain! X

How big's the venue? I went to see a band when I was that pregnant, but it was at Brixton Academy, which isn't huge and has a banked floor, so I just stayed at the back and still had a decent view. One of the stewards did offer to let me and DH sit in the section reserved for wheelchair users if I wanted to sit down, but I felt okay where we were.

Yes find out as much as you can about seating etc, maybe let them know and see how you feel on the day of the concert. on Friday I will be 39+4 am am hopefully going to see Stornaway, at a smallish (200 ) venue, I am hoping it will encourage labour. I have been to see many bands throughout this pregnancy and even at my worst I have been accomodated and looked after.

Only you will know how you feel love xx

It's at the 02... So a pretty big venue.

I think they're seated but not positive.

I went to see pink at around 5 months. Had seats so no worries on that score but having to wait in massive queues for the toilet was an issue for me and my squished pregnancy bladder

I wouldn't but that's more because I was bloody knackered at 8 months pregnant plus still throwing up

I went to a gig at 12wks with DS and felt so sick with the bass vibrating through me that I couldn't enjoy it properly & we left half way through.

If I remember correctly you're 20something wks atm georgie?
Could you hold off on giving your friend a confirmation until the week before?
You never can predict what your body (or baby!) will want to do!

No, I went to see Robbie at the O2 when I was 13 weeks and it was horrible. I hated the crowds, and the heat in the O2 is immense. I felt so faint that I had to leave for a while to cool down. Lots of non pregnant ladies were fainting etc with the heat, I can only imagine it would be worse when further on

I'm wondering the same. DP and I were supposed to be going to see the stone roses in June and I think I will be about 35 weeks at the time. I don't think our tickets are seated and I am a bit worried about the toilets. I remember from my first pregnancy that I needed to wee every 15 seconds at that stage.

Its obviously very personal but I would!

We saw:

Therapy? (very loud N. Irish band) in a packed venue when i was 13 weeks.

Friends birthday party with very loud live bands at 5 months - only problem was attempting to wear heals all night.

Reading Festival (day tickets) when I was 8 months. Toilets were ming but the girls let me jump. Only naff bit was the walk to /from the car park - cpl of miles when needing a pee having Brackton hicks!

Lady Gaga (seats) at 8 1/2 months. Ladies in the toilet queues were again lovely - made me push straight to the front!

I was also on stage with my DH's band exactly a week before I gave birth at a competition in London.

Maybe I am odd but DD is now 4 months and just fine - in fact I'm debating taking her to see Muse in May!

I would, and did! It was all standing but we phoned in advance and the venue was great - allocated us seats (extra) in the disabled section.
You really need to see how you feel though.

I did! Saw Lionel Richie at the echo arena at 36 weeks, loved it. Also had tickets for pulp at Sheffield arena for when I was 39 weeks but as DS arrived 3 weeks early that ended up being a gig 2 weeks pp (far worse IMO).

Only if seated tickets though.

I was at Wembley arena 2 days past my due date with my first. Do it. Much easier with baby inside than out.

No, but more because I'd be in the loo 10 times. Think, too, about your journey - there's lots of walking if you take any public transport route to the O2.

Is bass not amplified in fluid? Bit of a shock if you've never heard anything so loud before, then to have it go on for such a long time. Would think it would be possibly stressful for baby and definitely uncomfortable for you!

I didn't go to see take that as I would have been 35 weeks and I'm quite gutted now. It was at wembley so I was worried about the jostling, tiredness and ruining it for my friends. Wish I'd gone. No worse than looking after 2 rampant ds at home surely?

No, I personally wouldn't, but only because I would spend most of the time in the loo throwing up or sitting outside in a quiet area rubbing my indigestion filled belly! I went to Jack Johnson Concert at 6 months pg with DD, but it was calmer and much less base that's for sure! and I went to see Bruce Springsteen at Hyde Park with DS at 4 months (and all the bands before that, all afternoon) - i was actually more worried at that concert than the Jack Johnson one, as it was very crowded and no-one could see I was pg. As it happened it was absolutely amazing, I just had to go and rest on the grass for the last hour of his usual 3-hour set as my ankles were sore and swollen! Gutted!

I agree with posters who say work out things like how you will travel there and back, will you have a seat, how easy will it be to get out of there if you need some air, to the toilet, how will you get to hospital from there if you go into labour, can your partner come to you quickly if you need him there (or indeed have your partner on the scene/want him there, don't mean to be presumptous!), how close are you to your friend? will she deliver the baby in the moshpit if required?

I think it very much depends how you are feeling. You might be feeling on top form and ready for a good dance and listen to some good music, or you might be huge and dead on your feet ready to sleep by 7pm, desperate to go home and be miserable.
