I didn't intentionally do it.

I gained half a stone in my pregnancy and DS weighed 7lb 4oz.

I just ate healthily and walked everywhere.

I think light exercise and a healthy balanced diet is the best way for a healthy pregnancy and baby. Grin

I've heard of women doing this but it's usually those who have a lot to lose. Pregnant women only need an extra 100 Calories in the first trimester and even towards the end it's only 300 more cals you need to find so I think it could be possible. I'd just carry on eating moderately and as healthily as you can.

I have never intentionally done this but for some reason I do lose weight when pregnant. I don't gain much and my face arms and legs go very skinny and this weight loss continues when breasting until weaning starts when I pile it back on again. I must have a weird metabolism but both babies have turned out totally fine. I didn't have a particularly healthy diet during pregnancy but no wine.
I think adopting a healthy diet should be fine.

I would see your GP about this. I know of some women who were overweight and have lost weight during pregnancy but with advice from the GP.

My BMI was just under 30 when I got pregnant. I'm 28 weeks now and am only about 6lb heavier. Like Incognito I put it down to eating well and exercise (I was in a more office based role til I was 11 weeks and then went on to working on a ward again - as a nurse - so was simply more active at work). I'd been advised to keep my weight gain to under one stone which I'm now hoping is realistic!

As far as I'm aware Slimming World is a slimming club that accepts and is approved for pregnant women, but I wouldn't join until you've spoken to your GP/midwife and got their advice.

I think about a third or a half of the weight women put on during pregnancy isn't related to fat stores but is extra blood volume, placenta, baby etc, but I'd definitely speak to your GP/Midwife, explain your situation and ask their advice on taking things forward.

With Slimming World you actually need signed permission from your MW to attend anyway. Now I am over the first tri and can face vegetables again I shall be rejoining ( been following it since summer)

I would just eat as healthily as you can and do lots of walking etc for exercise.

Just watch your carbs. I got GD when pregnant with DD and had to reduce carbs and eat more protein and veg. When DD was born I weighed 7lbs less than pre-pregnancy weight and have lost more since. Next time round I would try to exercise more - got awful ligament pains in bump when walking which put me off last time. Next time I will get one of those support belt things.

I am like LadyCurd. Something happens to me when pregnant and I lose weight. I am now 26 weeks, around half a stone lighter than when I got pregnant, and am losing weight on my arms and back. First time around I ended up a stone lighter and a size smaller immediately after the birth. I had barely walked for months because of severe SPD so it certainly wasn't exercise at work. Annoyingly I spent my maternity leave living on cake and managed to put on 2.5 stone, around a stone of which I'm still to lose. This time round I'm going to capitalise on what pregnancy does and keep on going.
