Unexpected pregnancy symptom

I'm currently just over 37 weeks pregnant and am experiencing an unexpected 'symptom', if I can call it that, and wanted to know if anyone else has experienced it - or is it just me?
What is this symptom? Well, I can only describe it as extreme grumpiness and intolerance, which is getting worse and worse. I don't remember feeling it in any of my previous pregnancies, in fact with ds, I felt calm and serene despite the fact that it was an extremely hot summer. Now, tbh, I just feel like punching people (although I don't, honest!), usually other drivers on the way into work. I wouldn't say I'm normally the most placid and tolerant of people, but I'm fairly easy going so it's really not like me. I have had a straightforward and relatively easy pregnancy, so it's not as if I've got that as an excuse, so why do I feel like this?

because you are bored with waiting?
Seriously - I felt exactly the same. Jst wanted it out by then!

Tabitha - I get that feeling every month! When I get PMT not only do I get the physical pains and bloating, but also this intense hostility and intolerance for other human beings! Even DH's breathing annoys me!!!

I think its partly your hormones and partly being fed up waiting for the baby.

I wouldn't worry about it.
In fact, I'm very surprised this thread hasn't been inundated with MNtters agreeing with you!

Okay, I'm off now to mentally head-butt the guy next to me for sniffing constantly.

Thanks for your replies popsycal and M2T. I expect you're right about the hormones and being fed up waiting for the baby to arrive. I just feel like I've been pregnant for such a long time. I don't suppose lack of a good night's sleep helps much either. Still, I'm working from home today so don't have to worry about other drivers. The cat may suffer though.

Maybe you're having a girl tabitha? With ds I had a very calm preg, and with dd I was deeply pissed off with the world all the way through. I put it down to all the extra girl hormones going through my system. Obviously this is a totally unfounded theory, but I wanted to add something to take your mind off torturing your cat

tabitha · 16/01/2004 10:00

Could be wilbur, I'll find out soon enough I suppose. Don't worry about the cat - he know's me and he's hiding.

I agree with M2T that its probably hormonal - I always know when I'm due on as I get unreasonably p**d off for no reason! Try a bit of deep breathing or failing that I like kicking inanimate objects and ripping up newspapers!

Or taking it out on DH......

Not a girl-boy thing for me, just a 3rd pregnancy thing. I'm only 18 weeks and since late September I have been surly, mean, bitchy, horrible, short-tempered & very unforgiving... I have had shouting matches with complete strangers. I was in tears last night over anything my DH could think to try to talk about. He keeps having crises of confidence that I hate him; I told him I don't like anybody right now. Several good friends I don't even want to speak to. Never had a single moment of being emotional in my other pregnancies (1 girl, 1 boy). It is a real pain, and I just have to remind myself that this isn't me, it will go away, in about 5 months....

I'm just over 38 weeks and feel exactly the same so you're not alone. I'm just fed up waiting and really tired. I'm having a girl so maybe that's what it is!

I felt exactly the same to intolerable proportions a few days before I went into labour with both my sons. I put it down to hormones getting ready to start labour.
