Hello

Am 30+3 with PFB. Have looked like a basketball since about 12 weeks and at my 28 week MW appointment I was measuring 32 weeks and therefore have been referred for a 'growth scan' on Wednesday. I also have pretty agonising SPD, am on 30/500 co-codamol and really struggling to carry out basic day to day tasks..Such as sleeping!

Anyways, I'm wondering what exactly happens at a growth scan? If the baby is bigger than it should be...then what? There has already been talk of inducing me early due to the SPD, would this make it even more likely? I don't really want to be induced early but I don't want to carry a monster baby til 42 weeks and end up with an EMCS or something either!

Sorry, bit of a waffle but there just doesn't seem to be that much info on the web about the 'next steps' after growth scans, if there are any Confused

I was measuring big and therefore had late growth scans with both of my children. They were both showing big on scans but the consensus was not to do anything, which is apparently fairly standard! My DD then did end up being an EMCS (but probably more due to position that actual size, although her head was v big) and DS was an ELCS.

I think tbh being induced early gives you more risk of having an EMCS. However I can't comment on the SPD and what the risk of that might be to the baby, or you, as I have never experienced it.

BTW I wouldn't worry too much about size as the bump measuring can be hugely inaccurate as it all depends how you carry. Wait and see what the growth scan says and if you not happy with the medical response make an appointment with your Consultant to discuss further.
