Can Someone Reassure Me I'm Not Likely to DIE During This C-Section?

I'm not trying to be dramatic but am feeling really scared and emotional about this.

I went to another ultrasound today and the Dr. came in with concern all over her face advising that in addition to having an anterior placenta and 100% placenta previa, I may also have Placenta Accreta too. She was going to call my doctor right away and stressed that this puts me at even greater risk of hemmorage during my c-section. Google is not reasurring. I have a section planned for 37+2 next Tuesday. Thankfully I've had no bleeding to date but its like pins and needles waiting and knicker checking constantly. Seems now though that regardless this is likely going to be quite high risk to me and to baby.

I am sitting here crying just feeling terrified at how severe this surgery is sounding with each passing ultrasound.

I guess I just want to hear that OBGYN's deal with this all the time and that this is no big deal for them - they will have it covered. I want to hear that I'm going to be there for my kids and my husband. Unless its not true of course. My Dr. is so non-chalant about everything - it makes me distrust her a bit TBH.

I just wanted to say thank you for the support. I had my section on Tuesday (this past Tuesday - sorry for the confusion), and am home finally with our beautiful son - 6lbs, 1 oz.

the surgery was more aggressive and longer than a normal section. I lost a lot of blood and my hemoglobin remains lower so my recovery has been more difficult. they did not find the accreta they thought they would thank heavens, but she did say my placenta was very thin - so if your told to rest take heed even if you haven't had a bleed yet!! I did not need to have my uterous removed but have been cautioned that there will likely be serious accretia and concerns if I get pregnant again.

The anesthesiologist was very concerned about the whole thing and was quite cautious. He massively freaked me out - though I appreciate that the whole team was very prepared for any scenerio.

He insisted the surgery be done in the main OR and not in labour and delivery. He was close to insisting I have a general anesthetic but my dr told him she didn't think it necessary. TBH I would possibly choose that route if given the choice again....I found the surgery very frightening, was sick and vomited throughout, didn't get to see my son anyway until 4 hrs after anyhow and went to main OR recovery sans husband and child. it did not help that the resident struggled badly with both my spinal and my arterial line. He worked on the arterial line for at least 20 min before his supervisor finally put it in the other arm on the first try.....I understand the importance of students , but it was quite painful.....more than anything else during the whole ordeal.

it was all instantly worth it when I had my baby in my arms. He is the very definition of sweet and precious. we are so happy. all I can advise is rest, prioritize your pregnancy and health above all else and be frank with your Dr about your concerns.

Congratulations on your new baby boy!! And thank you for letting us know. It must be an amazing feeling to have him and be over the whole ordeal:) Well done!! Your experience is very helpful to me and it just shows how amazing the doctors are these days. It's the waiting what is killing me, waiting for the next scan, waiting for the weeks to pass.

I wish you a speedy recovery and enjoy your little completed family!!
