Booking in appointments - when should I hear from the MW?

OK this is my first pregnancy so I'm still getting used to all the processes, procedures and jargon, not to mention the weird bodily idiosyncrasies Smile. I took a pregnancy test around a month ago, which confirmed that I was 2-3 weeks (or 4-5 weeks in "real" terms), which means I'm about 9 weeks now ... I think. Since then, I've been to see my GP, who said she would refer me to a MW, and also to a family planning clinic for some random advice (that went something along the lines of "well what do I do next?"). It's been over a week since my appointment with the GP and I've not heard from the MW. I'm not sure when I'm supposed to hear from her, or if I need to do anything else?

Nobody has actually confirmed that I am indeed pregnant, although I've been given the NHS maternity exemption certificate Grin, and my symptoms have been mild enough to make me wander if indeed I am pregnant - slightly tender boobs, slight but persistent nausea, heightened sense of smell. I'd like some kind of proper confirmation and some scans please.

Anyone have any advice on how long I should wait until I phone the GP? Will I have any tests/scans done at the same time as my booking in appointment? Will they send me a letter for my appointment or call me? Anything else I need to know or do right now?

At my doctors I had to ring the midwife and book in but it differs from one to another. Just call if you're not sure.
Congrats on baby Grin

I didn't even get to see a doctor. When I rang my surgery they just gave me a number to ring not even telling me what it was. Turned out to be the midwife center. I gave them my details and a midwife rang me a week or two later to arrange an appointment for 12 weeks. I think they just take your word for being pregnant these days unless you're not sure. I certainly didn't get a test off them to confirm the one I did. Revel in your lack of symptoms they're not much fun. Congratulations!

Heh. Thanks All! I'll call them again. It seems silly but I didn't have the first clue what my next step needed to be after peeing on a stick! Glad there's a forum where women can ask these things.

Congratulations! I found it strange that I had an exemption certificate given to me just on my word that I am pregnant! I'd chase them up if I were you, good luck x
