Hi

First time mum with no sisters, female cousins etc, so doing a lot of studying on the internet when I can't sleep!!!

Just buying baby clothes and thinking I need to wash them regardless if they are new or hand me downs (which I have no objection to) but can I wash bubas clothes in the same detergent that I use for my normal laundry?

I am thinking I will be cuddling buba against my clothes that will have been washed in normal detergent?

Advise welcome :0)

Depends if you have any history of excema or such like in your family, but mostly non-bio ordinary detergent is fine. If there is a likelyhood of reaction, the stuff that normally comes in a pink bag (my brain has deleted the name) seems to be ok with pretty much every child I've ever looked after. I might get one bag for first newborn stuff, with the amount of asthma in my family. Thanks for mentioning it, I hadn't thought about that!

Ah - it's called Filletti, I've just remembered (although that spelling may be wrong).

We use Surcare liquid all the time because I have very sensitive skin and its lovely (and pretty reasonable - about £2.70 for 18 washes). We will use this for baby clothes too as it is non bio and has no perfume or dyes.

I read on another thread on MN that you shouldnt use fabric softener because of the perfume and dyes...
