Summer vs winter babies - what's your experience?

My 2yr DD was born in January and my second is due in July, I was wondering what the good and not so good things about summer and winter babies were.

From my experience, good bits re a winter baby were;
Can hide massive bump and fat ankles in knitwear and Ugg boots
Ditto hiding post pregnancy 'curves' for a good 5 months before it was hot again
Newborns in snow suits are gorgeous
Snuggling up on the sofa on cold dark afternoons

Not so good;
Sleepless nights that seemed to last forever as it was so dark
Agony of sore breastfeeding boobs in the cold!
Birthday parties forever indoors

2 summer babies here. It is something I will never ever do again. Hot, sweaty no chance of hiding pregnancy bod. Was rainy and hot when pregnant with DS2 and I would have done anything to have air con in the house. Maternity ward so hot I felt death may have been preferable.

Good points, babies also look cute in romper suits! Occasional dry weather in summer allowed for some evening walks. Have been very lucky weather wise on DS1's birthday and always had outdoor parties. Less child care costs as they start nursery pretty soon after they're 3.

Two summer babies here, wonderful! No freezing when up in the night in the early days, as dark at 10pm and light at 5am those hideous nights seemed relatively short. Never worrying if babies too cold, out and about in the sunshine with them after a few days following giving birth (good when you have a toddler), more chance to see people and socialise so not so isolated and fed up.

Oh yes, and birthday parties involve sticking all the kids on the garden so they don't trash the house. Admittedly though, at the end of pregnancy I was known to eat a whole box of ice lollies in one sitting to keep cool :)

I'm having a summer baby after a winter baby and looking forward to not freezing during night feeds!

I've had on in oct and this one due in June. October was murder for night feeds and breastfeeding through the whole winter including extra night waking due to cold.

I'm hoping June will mean nights seem shorter, lack of sleep not compounded by the cold and dark. Easier to do washing and drying of stuff. Easier to feed out and about without dying of cold. Easier to change baby as don't have 4 layers to get on and off newborn.

Winter babies are smarter and more likely to be successful www.independent.co.uk/news/science/babies-born-in-winter-are-bigger-brighter-and-more-successful-523070.html

I recommend Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell on this.
