Can anyone recommend an online store where I can buy all of the basics? Muslin squares, maternity pads, breast pads, changing mat etc at a reasonable price.

Thanks!

I did a combination of Mothercare and Boots, also some bits from Kiddicare

Asda online would be good. I think they have a baby event on at the minute too so some good deals to be had.

I used kiddiecare, mothercare and eBay for all my stuff. I generally buy from kiddiecare unless something is a lot cheaper somewhere else because I've always had really good service from them.

Amazon.co.uk was great for me - they do free delivery over a certain amount, and if you join their Amazon Family scheme you get freebies. I found their prices to be cheaper than what I found in most stores, too.

I've had a look at asda's baby event and they do have some bargains, might get a job lot of nappies from there!
Didn't even consider amazon or eBay. Thanks!

Be careful bulk buying nappies I did that with DS thinking I was being well prepared.

There were 2 issues which resulted in most of them going unused..

  1. DS had a bad reaction to Pampers.
  2. He skipped size 1 all together even though he was in the weight range.

To be honest I wouldn't shop at one store for everything as it would be more expensive and don't buy maternity pads they are seriously harsh and uncomfortable, night time sanitary pads are much better :)

Tesco maternity pads are fantastic, and cheap! Agree with Peanut about not bulk buying nappies and in all honesty Aldi nappies are the best I've tried and are always cheaper than branded nappies even on their best offers!

Supermarkets for small sized sleepsuits and vests - not the best quality but cheapenough to throw away if you're out and about and have an explosive nappy situation - nothing worse than shoving things like that back into your changing bag Hmm

Amazon was by far the best - not only can you choose from a HUUUUGE range of stuff, you can read reviews so you really know what you're getting is worth the money, and you can compare prices and stuff. I got my changing mat, moses basket, baby monitor, breast pump, cot mobile and baby bouncer from there. All 4-5 star reviewed, so I felt comfortable buying it even though I had no idea.

Definitely recommended :)

How are amazon with warranty etc compared to shops? Say a baby monitor if it went faulty?

Oodsigma · 23/01/2013 08:34

You can return to amazon but obviously posting takes time. I returned something just before Xmas and the new one was dispatched before receiving my return though
