Mum to be spa day

My very kind DH is treating us to a spa day for my bday. I'm nearly 20 weeks. When do you think I would get the most benefit from it? It's a mum to be elemis package and can be customised to my needs at that particular stage of pregnancy. So can be facial, back massage, foot and hand treatment etc. I would love to go tomorrow but wonder if I would be better waiting till closer to my due date when I might need it more, or will I be too big and uncomfy? Can you tell this is DC1!!

My DH got me a post natal spa day before both our DDs were born. I used the first one at around 6 months pg and with dd2 I was 8 months.

I'd say it depends on how you feel, by the later stages you may be feeling too uncomfortable, your skin may be much more sensitive and you could find laying on the treatment table a bit difficult as it reclines.

I think 6-7 months is ideal as you're big enough that you'll appreciate the relief from your aches & pains but not so big as to be uncomfortable.

Lucky you, enjoy yourself! :)

I've just had one!! I'm 14 weeks and it was wonderful! So lovely and confortable - it was the best massage I've ever had. I'm glad I did it now - I have a couple of aches and it was just heavenly. I think the relax will help at whatever stage, but personally, I enjoyed not being overly 'big' for ease of turning, lying on my side and then swimming afterwards. Whatever you choose, you'll love it no matter when.

I'd say 6-7 months max. I just tried a spa day at 33wks (couldn't get away sooner due to lack of babysitter for dd) & although the experience was lovely my massage etc wasn't ideal as I'm just so big & uncomfy I couldn't relax on the bed

I had one 10 days before my eldest was born. Loved it!!!! By that time I really enjoyed the peace and quiet and all the treatments catered for my rather massive bump!!

Another vote for earlier rather than later, I've been saving mine and only now realised I cannot actually lie on my front Blush

I had a massage at full term last time. Just to pass the time really...I was overdue. My expectations were low but actually it was great !

I had one at 35 weeks, it was amazing! Don't worry about not being able to lie flat on your back or on your front, they work around you.
Would be jealous but have one booked for march when I'll be 35 weeks with dc2 and so looking forward to it!

Excellent thanks everyone I'll let DH pick a date then as doesn't look like it will matter.

I would say it completely depends on whether the place you are going has the beds with holes in! These are special massage beds with a padded hole for your bump and 2 for your boobs! IMO there is nothing nicer than being able to comfortably lie on your front in late pregnancy for a massage. It kind of feels like you are not pregnant for an hour! So.. In short, if the spa has these tables, I'd go later, but if not I'd go earlier- say up to 6/7 months.
