light spotting after knock to stomach, 20 weeks

Just wondered if anyone has been through anything similar? Was shoved in the stomach yesterday by a child, obviously nothing major but was quite a hard shove, left me feeling sick for a couple of hours afterwards and some short pains later. Probably nothing major and haven't had pains since. However tonight noticed some light spotting which left me very worried after the knock to the stomach yesterday! Midwife said it's probably not connected and probably nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on the spotting. Has anyone else had something similar happen to them? Can't think of anything but miscarriage, although not in pain or anything. If anyone can put my mind at rest it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks x

Poor you. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but I wouldn't be happy with what the MW said, I'd want to be checked! At my hospital you can contact te labour ward's Day Assessment Unit and they will usually be happy for you to be seen, would check heartbeat and maybe even offer a scan to reassure you. It's not on that you have to be left worrying :( I've been in loads for tiny bleeds but that's because I'm RH Negative and they've insisted I call each and every time. If you have someone at the hospital you can call, I'd do that as you don't want to be stressed unnecessarily.

Hope someone can put your mind at rest, let us know how you get on x

I'd second the idea of calling the triage part of your labour ward.

They would do on the basis of stopping you worrying but I think you have good cause to want a check up.

I fell down over Christmas and thought I didn't bang my stomach but they still wanted me in, partly because I'm rhesus negative but also to just check me over.

Hope it all works out fine.

thanks guys think i'll phone tomorrow and arrange to go in. it's probably just me worrying over nothing but all i've read on internet is connected to miscarriage, etc. so worth getting checked i suppose! thanks again for your advice Smile x

Please go and get checked out.

I experienced mild pain one morning, only just noticable. Then had one tiny spot of blood.. Called the hospital because i knew something wasnt right, they told me it was nothing, called them three times they kept dismissing me until my mum rung. Went in 4 hours later I had a placental infection and was fully dilated (weak cervix). He had a very strong Hb before he came, but 36hours later he died during birth and was born sleeping. I was only 23 weeks.

You've got to be on the safe side and take charge. Better safe than sorry. x

I bled a lot throughout my last pregnancy, I never phoned my community midwife though, I just phoned triage every time and was always asked to come in to be checked, my bleeding turned out to be caused by cervical erosion though and was on and off from 7 weeks till about 24 weeks! It's always better to go in and be checked as it's btter to be safe than sorry. Hope all is ok with you and your baby.
