Birthing ball in pregnancy!

I have one of these and used it lots in late pregnancy, I also used the one at the hospital for a good chunk of my labour. However I can't remember when I started bouncing on it! No point in inflating it too early (especially with a 2 year old around!) but don't want to leave it too late!

Second trimester onwards is good - basically when you start to get aches and pains in your back is the time to start using it.

I've had mine inflated since about 24/25 weeks (when my SPD kicked in and I read it could help w/ that). Btw, I read something on here written by a physio that bouncing is bad! Apparently doing hip rolls/ pelvic tilts, and just generally sitting on it instead of chair/ sofa, is good though.

Also, does anyone else find it makes their (middle) back ache if they sit on it? Is this just indicative of my usually bad posture, or is my ball over-inflated??

I've been sitting on one at work since about 15 weeks and am convinced it's made a big difference. Baby has always been head down (am now 32 weeks so hoping baby will stay that way) and as I've got bigger the ball just gives you that much more room to be comfy. I think it's also good for yourcore strength as you have to work to stay on it.

My back has been a bit achy at times but it's worse sitting on normal chairs or standing.
