Nursery decoration - blackout curtains

Hi everyone

Since finding out I'm having a girl I have become obsessed with decorating the nursery and getting prepared in general for her appearance in May (long time to wait still i know). We have decided on a pink and green theme and have painted the walls a pastel green this weekend. Now I'm looking for some blackout curtains that are mainly pink but with some kind of theme or pattern and tie backs. I have scoured the net this morning but don't seem to be able to find nice blackouts which is where I hope you guys come in? Has anyone got any recommendations? They will be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

Have you considered blackout linings, that way you could put them on the back of your chosen curtains.

Hi cookiewuk,

I'm due in May too but haven't yet got round to decorating the nursery. I'm just wondering why you are going for blackout curtains? I had blackout curtains for 5 years and found it very hard to sleep any where else where there wern't black out curtains. Thankfully I have weaned myself off blackout curtains (and sleeping in the complete pitch black) now.

Blackout linings are a good idea - but doesn't get the room completely dark - if you want to achieve this a blackout blind is best and then you can choose whatever curtains you like Grin

Thank you for your replies. I'm wanting blackout curtains as the street lamps are very bright outside our house and I find it difficult to sleep without them and hoped they would help baby sleep. I hadn't considered blackout linings, are they easy to use? I would of gone for a blackout blind but had just had new vertical blinds fitted throughout the house before i found out I was expecting :/

Get these (velcro goes on the window frame and the blackout sticks to that - you cut to size to get perfect fit) then pick some lovely curtains as well.

These are great, total black out.

Just get blackout lining put in.
John Lewis will do this.
