Spotting whist on cyclogest after bfp

I am hoping that someone can give me some advice.

I got my bfp 4 days ago, and have been on cyclogest twice a day since ovulation (which I think was around CD12). This would make me 4+2 from lmp, but 4+4 from ovulation dates. I've had some spotting the last few days, and having had a lot of early m/c in the past (without the cyclogest) I am worried that this could mean I might loose this one.

Just wondering if anyone has been in the same situation, and what the outcome was- I thought the extra progesterone would mean no spotting at all.

Hi Jolli. I took cyclogest twice a day after IVF (ICSI) and had spotting at about seven weeks. I'm now 25 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.

Fingers crossed for you...

Hi another here who had spotting 10 days after a BFP. I was on Cyclogest following IVF.

I am now 18 weeks pregnant witht twins. Like you I thought it was game over, and I had blood tests done (2 seperate ones with a 48 hour gap) which put my mind at rest as it showed rising hgc levels. I also had an early scan at 7 weeks which was when we discovered out good news.

I had a MC at the start of last year, and that was without the cyclogest so I understand your worries.

Given your history, can you contact your early pregnancy unit (EPU)? You can self refer at ours and they are open 24 hours.

Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Blending, I'll get scans at 6,8 and 10 weeks that the recurrent miscarriage clinic have arranged for me to be able to access. That's the earliest they'll scan me though, and my local hospital is next to useless so there's no point going there.

Thanks for positive thoughts though, both of you x

How are you taking the cyclogest I was told to take the rectally when I had a bleed, as they may have been irritating my cervix.

Theres no point in a scan before 6 weeks as there would nothing much to see, so the dates they've given you make perfect sense.

At 6 weeks they can see the sac, fetal pole and if you were exceptionally lucky a heart-beat, although that tends to be closer to 7 weeks.

Is the MC clinic open on Monday? Ask them for blood tests, I really had to push for mine. The first is a base line test which measures the level of HGC and the second 48 hours later measures the change. A single test on its own wont tell you enough info to put your mind at rest.

If the clinic cant help try your GP. They can arrange the blood tests too.

I was worried that my anxiety & stress would causethe baby problems if I had to wait weeks to find out , but was told that this was unlikely.

I had this after ivf. I got a positive test 3 days before my period was due, and had been taking the cyclogest rectally, however I had diarrhoea the day after my bfp and decided to do it vaginally. The following day i bled on and off quite a bit, and spotted for a couple of days after. I spoke to the clinic and they told me to go back to using it rectally instead and the bleeding cleared up within a day. Apparently it can irritate the cervix which is very vascular and sensitive in prregnancy.

I was on cyclogest (rectally) and had bleeding. Went for an early private scan and Gynae could see bleeding was coming from within vagina, not escaping from cervix. She said was v common with progesterone. I wished I'd been told that before I started worrying like crazy! Good luck!
