Hi all! Smile

Been thinking about this a lot lately. We've all experienced some niggling problem whilst being pregnant, but what would you say you have suffered the most with? Heartburn, insomnia, swollen ankles etc?

For me, it's been all of the above and more..Angry

So, come on girls, the floor's yours! Wink

I have anti natal depression which has been marked by anxiety. Im having counselling now but have been off work for 3 months. Its getting much better now and I can't believe how quickly suddenly I started to feel so much more like the old me, like the clouds cleared....

I've also had restless legs but not as bad as the first time round. I read that eating 2-3 bananas a day can relieve the symptoms. Within 3 days of starting the narnathon, relief!

SPD....& it's still severe 7+ years later

Ooh - i love a pregnancy moan :-) my whinges are: sickness, not being able to brush my teeth without gagging, swollen legs and feet from week 11 (left leg and foot still swollen and DS is nearly 1 boohoo), giving myself injections in my tummy for a fortnight after they suspected dvt, ridiculously high bp which meant going to hospital every couple of days (not easy when working full time in a different city and not driving), having emcs and people telling me i was lucky not to have had to give birth... Prob lots more. Quite enjoyed that rant!!

First time round nothing physical just massive stress due to stupid docs and mw's telling me lies.
This time insane sickness (yes the weight loss was needed but not quite like that thank you) and hormones going mad, had to stop driving the other day cause a song set me off and I couldn't see through the tears. I can't wait for this one to end.

I know I am very lucky because I have very few pregnancy health niggles to complain about - but pushing my heavy toddler in buggy up our road which is a steep hill whilst 4 days overdue with baby no 2 is certainly tiring. Also having problems putting my winter boots on as tummy now so big!

But the worst thing of course is....the birth!! 2nd time round I know how painful it really is.....

Its a tie between the exhaustion and the ridiculously spotty face. There's literally nothing I can do for the latter - I'm drinking lots of water and trying to eat as many fruit and veg as possible but am still struggling with it...

Crazy heartburn and unbearable GD thirst from about 30 weeks.

Report
MrsMangoBiscuit · 14/01/2013 05:18

Last time it was the insomnia. It just seems so unfair that when I need sleep more than ever, suddenly I can't! Now 5 weeks, I woke at 3.30 and can't sleep. Angry:(

Pregnancy was so much fun Angry, I spent most of it bed bound for one reason or another. For the first 4 months it was vertigo and low blood pressure so dizzy, sick and tired which meant I bumped into stuff and fainted a lot, usually at the top of a flight of stairs culminating in a fall which has permanently damaged my coccyx.

That was followed by heartburn, insomnia and high blood pressure so endless hospital admissions and eventually pre-eclampsia. After all that the birth only took 26 minutes so swings and roundabouts!

Hasn't put me off TTC number 2.

Lately, it's the hideous leg cramps and agony hips, especially at night. I can't sleep and trying to change position in bed to relieve the pain is like turning an oil a tanker. Heartburn - thank god Gaviscon is effective even it tastes awful. Morning sickness from 4-15 weeks, vomiting 6-7 times a day while dealing with toddlers, nevermind the constant nausea and exhaustion.

DH moaning that something around the house hasn't been done (see above)

Hyperemesis. Particularly being bad enough to be hospitalised. Yuck!

Report
JenAT · 14/01/2013 09:31

First 16wks or so, nausea and vomiting. Has been worse with each subsequent pregnancy. I do not know how the poor souls who get hyperemesis cope!
Now at 35wks, I am knackered. Still working, sometimes a 10+hr day. Waking literally hourly at night to wee. Where does it come from? I try to limit fluids in the evening but my bladder is ready to burst if I don't get up. Hips ache and terrible backache if I sit in a funny position or push my 21month old too far in the pushchair. Looking forward to finishing work in 2wks but wont really rest as 2 kids that still need looking after. Definitely no more babies after this one!
Its good to have a moan but appreciate we are lucky to have 2 healthy children and so far a pretty healthy pregnancy.

The bleeding and the uncertainty. I'm 9 weeks into my fourth pregnancy (two live births, one mc) and having pink bleeding yet again (had it in 3 out of 4 pregnancies now) And yeah it's probably nothing but I'm just so sick of the uncertainty and the worry. I just want to know if it's ok or not. :(

I'm with Jamesandthegiantbanana. After a very premature birth and losing my son as a result, it's the daily terror of something going wrong. Have been signed off work at 9 weeks due to bleeding. I have lost my I'm pregnant, so I am going to have a baby belief :(

The exhaustion. I was practically disabled for the last 4 months. In tears walking home from work one day just trying to put one foot in front of the other. But worse even than that were people's attitudes about it. All this pregnancy's not an illness lark, blah blah blah.... If I'd been that exhausted for any other reason I'd have been signed off work but because it's pregnancy related you're expected to just suck it up and get on with it and if you moan you get compared to X down the road who ran a marathon the day before she went into labour so you must just be a whiner. It might not be an illness but it makes a lot of people very ill and very debilitated and it's long past time society respected that. All my genius doctor had to suggest was to rest more and walk more. Presumably she didn't mean at the same time.

The exhaustion and lack of sleep! At first I was wasking at 3am and just not being able to get back to sleep, now that I'm over that I'm waking to go for a wee 3 or 4 times each night!! Even when I purposely don't drink much all day I still need to go loads at night.

I'm only 10 + 5 too .

The utter exhaustion, then nausea, and the muscle- and ligament-pulls. I was very lucky, really.

I developed a real pain in the neck during my first pregnancy so just after I got pregant for the second time I found the solution....I divorced him.

Report
SamraLee · 14/01/2013 11:50

Before I was pregnant I had a smell disorder, so when I was pregnant it was 10 times worse. I barely ate anything for the first 20 weeks so I was constantly starving. My daughter is 6 months and I still have trouble with a few smells especially perfumey ones, but I had that before the pregnancy. I got PGP at 8 weeks and it only got worse from there. I would take the pain and having to go to the store in a wheelchair anyday over not being able to eat. Those are my only two real complaints. Towards my 3rd trimester I got very anaemic and was having frequent episodes of heart palpatations, dizziness, and breathlessness, but I would gladly take that over the smell problem too.

Report
poozlepants · 14/01/2013 12:02

Low blood pressure. Made worse by every midwife I saw telling me how lucky I was not to have high bp. I spent the last 14 weeks feeling like I was going to faint all the time. After the birth I lost enough blood to make me slightly anaemic again which lowered it a bit more so I couldn't even have a shower without sitting down.

Constant insomnia for the last 8 weeks...SPD...horribly achy hips at night. Now overdue and very fed up.

Heartburn, insomnia, tiredness & nausea. All worth it now I have a 1 week old DD snoozing in my arms.

Report
lutrinae · 14/01/2013 13:34

where to start? endless nausea, heartburn, tiredness, acheyness. Spending all night trying to find a comfy position to sleep in. Crampy, restless, painful legs.

A horrible (but thankfully brief) period of depression following moving house, just before Christmas and hormonal. Great timing!

Finally that lack of independence - not being able to move far - or very fast - or lift anything. So frustrating.

It aint glamourous, that's for sure. Just entered 3rd trimester so I'm sure there's more in store!

Report
PartTimeModel · 14/01/2013 14:56

anything at all that messes with my sleep - so that would be heartburn/indigestion, SPD and weeing all the fecking time.
