Is there any point in the time I'm spending cleaning my skin?

When I was about 6 weeks pregnant I seriously broke out on my face. Its really been troubling me and for the last 2 weeks I've been spending a good twenty minutes washing and cleansing my face every night but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. Now, all the chocolate over Christmas probably hasn't helped Blush, but I was wondering if, since it's hormonally fuelled, it's not going to go away no matter what I do? I don't want to spend a fortune on products if my skin is going to be spotty and gross no matter what I do...

Sorry - I know in the grand scale of things it's totally trivial but it is sort of getting me down...

No. It's hormonal and there's nothing you can do about it. It'll probably go away. Smile

Maybe I was exaggerating the twenty minutes...it just bloody feels like that maybe Smile

In the shower in the morning I wash with a facial soap. Then in the evening I use a facial wipe and Soap and Glory pore scrub stuff (which needs left on for a minute after massaging for a minute which might be why it seems like forever Wink).

I do feel I'm probably aggravating it all by wearing heavy concealer but I can't bear the thought of going out with ridiculously spotty face. I always assumed moisturiser would exacerbate it all but I'll maybe give it a go...

I was exactly the same but it cleared up in the second tri.

Thanks Twitchy. I'll try just using the soap and see how I get on. Smile

I don't usually get spots at all, but was like a teenager in the 1st trimester. It all comes from the inside, so just drink plenty of water, but it probably won't make a difference to use a different skincare approach than usual. It'll clear up in the 2nd trimester, I'm back to my pre-preg skin. Am still waiting for the healthy 'glow' though haha.

Try to drink plenty of water and avoid sugary foods - ultimately you can't stop the hormonal causes but these steps can reduce the effect. Unless of course you have the morning sickness I had in which case just eat whatever you can keep down! My skin went a bit haywire in my first trimester (in the weirdest places too - who gets acne just around their ears?!) and I found that it would flare up whenever I didn't get enough sleep - so it's a good excuse to get plenty of rest too!

I switched from my standard daily face lotion to a light Simple one and seems to help. Think my skin is just more sensitive now
