Pulsating bump - is this the placenta?

36+5 weeks and just noticed my bump is pulsating!!! I do have an anterior placenta so is that what it is?

Baby hiccups?

Hiccups, like wot 'er up there said. My 3 were utter buggers for hiccups, was sweet at first but then drove me demented.

No hiccups feel different, this little one has hiccups all the time!!! It feels like my bump has a heartbeat!!!

Try timing the pulsations. When was the last time you had your blod pressure checked?

Booked in to have baby on Friday so I'm being seen every day by midwife. I only noticed the pulsing once she'd gone. Strange

I suspect it is - I had this. I'm 22+6 and if I sit really still I can feel my anterior placenta pulsing away with it's own little heartbeat. It's why it took so long for me to feel kicks I think - I just assumed it was the pulsing until I realised it wasn't regular.

It could be that you are feeling the baby practising breathing? I'm 38+4 and been feeling it for quite a while. Normally happens a couple of times a day and looks/feels just like there's a small, panting animal in there (the breathing is quite rapid, about double the rate of my own breathing), and is right where her torso is.

It feels very different to hiccups (which I also feel regularly) - these are more like jolting movements and not as rapid.

I have the same pulsating, same as my pulse so I assume it's the placenta. Mine is posterior though.

It's probably your abdominal aorta that's been pushed closer to the surface by your bump because of the position your dc is in. I get this all the time when not pg too, strange but true!
