Most quickly absorbed body oil/cream for bump?

I know the jury's out on whether these work or not, but I'm used to putting bio-oil on every night now and want to carry on with something else, as it takes an age to sink in.

Any recommendations of quick-absorbing, gorgeous smelling replacements?

I was going to suggest Bio-Oil, I find it soaks in really well. I do massage it in pretty well. I do my bump before I go to bed and find the smell is nice and relaxing.

I tried the palmers cocoa butter last time, but didn't feel that soaked in as well.

I find if I don't use anything my bump gets dry. Bio Oil did work wonders on fading my stretchmarks after pregnancy. I'm getting new stretchmarks this time around at the top of my bump, under rib and down to my belly button. DD made them run from my hips to my belly button.

I use this www.boots.com/en/Palmers-Cocoa-Butter-Formula-Skin-Therapy-Oil-150ml_1002843/ am 35 weeks 1st Baby and do not have a single stretch mark, I mix putting it on with the body lotion and E45 cream, I am hoping I will continue to moistureise after bub is born as I am usually rubbish.

Boots has Palmers cocoa butter on offer at the moment.

Neal's Yard "mothers balm" is lovely. Unscented and not too sticky! I still like a couple of drops of bio oil in the bath too.

MJP1 does the Palmers oil smell the same as the cocoa butter lotion? I overdosed on that in my teens and now can't bear the smell Grin

Berri yes it does smell the same, know alot of people hate the smell but I quite like it think I am used to it have lathered so much on.

Blobby11 · 07/01/2013 19:48

I find pregnancy makes my skin very sensitive and most creams irritate me. I thought I'd have to stick to E45 which I hate as it smells funny and takes forever to absorb. Luckily my doctor introduced me to Aveeno which is much better, doesn't smell and absorbs really easily. You can get it free on prescription.

FoofFighter · 07/01/2013 20:03

You'll get them whatever if you are pre-determined to get them, sorry ladies, ask your mothers if they had them, if so then there's not much you can do, it's apparently hereditary.

Moisturising may help to minimise the damge a little though.

I have been pleeasantly surprised by Asda's maternity stretch mark oil this week (no bio oil on shelf) as it sank in very quickly and didn't smell like bio oil! V cheap too.

Springforward · 07/01/2013 22:27

*pleasantly

Willdoitinaminute · 07/01/2013 22:33

Clarins do an oil suitable for bumps. My sis gave me a bottle when I was pregnant claiming that it prevented stretch marks in everyone she knew who'd used it. It worked for me as well so maybe she was right.
It smelt lovely and was very light. A bit expensive though.

berri · 07/01/2013 22:33

Did it smell lovely spring? Grin

Foof I know - but have got into the habit and like it!

Not nail polish remover. My helpful ex smothered my bump in the stuff thinking it was bio oil. In fairness to him, it was orange...

Springforward · 07/01/2013 23:04

Even better, it hardly smelled at all! (Nausea still a problem at 19 weeks here....)

plonko · 07/01/2013 23:09

I was given a tub of Burts Bees Bump Butter in my Christmas stocking. Love it! Absorbs well, not greasy, odourless and makes my tummy and boobs, hips and arse super soft! Smile

Grape seed oil. Buy online about £7 per litre.

Add (a safe) essential oil of your choice. Mandarin lavender and jasmine all great for skin. Make up small batches at a time. Unscented it makes great massage oil for baby too.

Bio oil is mostly nasty mineral oil.

PartTimeModel · 07/01/2013 23:27

I should add 2 big bumps and no stretch marks ( though I do have some from when I was a teenager).

berri · 08/01/2013 00:01

pickled Shock nail varnish remover!!! Bet that smelled nice Grin

That's a good idea PTM - I have some of that somewhere, would just need to get the essential oil.

Willdo I've also heard good things about the Clarins - how much is it?

Mamma Mio stretch mark oil and body butter is amazing! A bit pricey though.

Brettles · 08/01/2013 02:22

Another vote for the Asda mum-to-be oil here. I found it easier to absorb than bio oil and prefer the smell too.

VestaCurry · 08/01/2013 02:24

Camelia oil by Elemis, lovely but not cheap.

berri · 08/01/2013 02:44

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll do a trawl of the shops & do some sniff tests.

Like the sound of the burts bees one just for the alliteration Grin

to be honest just find a nice cream you like -stretch marks are not reduced or affected bycreams and oils until possibly afterwards. however my skin got increasingly dry and irritated during pregnancy and be the end aveeno was the only thing that made my skin feel ok. didn't use any oils etc and no stretch marks but neither my mum or sister got any either - I think it's hereditary. still, that doesn't mean you can spoil your self with some nice creams! burts bees v nice Grin

plonko · 08/01/2013 07:53

Berri - I think that's probably why I was given it! It is lovely though, and I think ill keep using it after LO arrives
