Trans-v scan found full bladder even after emptying

Hi, this is my first post so apols that I don't know the mn lexicon yet...
I just had my first scan at 8weeks +4 days. Everything with baby within normal range, so am mainly happy. But As is normal, I was asked to empty my bladder b4 the scan. This was my booking appointment so in fact the 3rd pee with just 3 hours when I'd only drank 1 small glass of water. Yet despite thinking I had squeezed every last drop out, the doc doing the scan remarked to me,and in a note to my GP, that my bladder was still v full (when "residual"). I'm not sure what to make of this and am worried it is something that could hurt the baby. If anyone knows about this I'd be grateful for info. Scan doc said I should try double peeing, but as I've been peeing more since pregnant I thought I'd been doing that already.
Thanks

Hello

I had three bouts of retention recently relating to a retroverted uterus. Get someone to check whether you're uterus is retroverted or not. I won't bore you with the hoo ha I went through, but really push for someone to check while you are still under 12/13 weeks as I was told after that they can't say for sure. Ask your midwife or G to refer you to EPU. I found that in several hospitals i ended up in neither urology or gynae knew about this as it's fairly uncommon, only the final obstetric consultant knew about it (although we'd read medical papers about it too). It was much easier to cope with and took away my worries of harm to baby (so try not to worry, but do get it looked at so that you know the underlying cause and they can treat or support you properly).

Hopefully it's just be a one off for you and all will be well, but best to get it checked out so that your GP/midwife knows if you'll need more care/support in this area. Feel free to PM me.

Thank you. I will call my GP who will have received the report and ask her. Really appreciate your response and advice! Thanks

Ps: I just checked the note they gave me at the scan. They say my uterus is anteverted, so that's good I think (i didnt know what that was until you mentioned it). But will check the bladder situ with theGP all the same
