As above & if so do I need to worry?
I'm 11+4 & had them occasionally before getting pregnant but this last week they have come back with vengeance & are making me quite breathless. Not worrying too much but should I be?

I get them all the time & im 20+4 had them b4 pg but they've gotten worse since .... if your concerned see your doctor it can't do no harm :-)) xx

Yes, I've had a few and general breathlessness too sometimes. It's your heart coping with the extra blood flow.

So long as you're generally healthy and have no heart or breathing issues when not PG it's probably nothing to worry about.

Yes, I had the around the same time and saw the nurse. They can also be a sign of anemia, low blood pressure and dehydration, so might want to make sure you're on top of your iron and water. For me it was probably combo of pregnancy and dehydration because I hate that being pregnant for me means running to the loo several times an hour and was subconsciously reducing my liquid intake. Dioralyte was helpful.

Hi there yes I have had them in both pregnancies in the first trimester. First pregnancy I was very worried, went to the doctor, ECG etc, end result was that I have a heart murmur. Apparently it is common for people to have heart murmurs that go unnoticed and are not harmful, just during pregnancy when there is more blood flowing around your body then they often get detected. In both pregnancies the palpitations went away after the first trimester.

I get palpitations & breathlessness too. I'm 18+2 & the midwife sent me to the GP about it because my pulse is faster than average. I'm 99% sure there's nothing wrong with me but I let them do an ECG & blood test yesterday, just to prove it so they won't use it as a reason to avoid a homebirth! The ECG showed shock, horror that my heart is beating a bit fast! Going back for the blood test results tomorrow but I nearly laughed at the doctor who rang me about the ECG. She announced that I shouldn't be breathless this early on as I 'don't have much of a bump yet'. She's not met me & has no idea how big my bump is. I could be having triplets for all she knows! Besides, it's got very little to do with the size of the bump & everything to do with trying to oxygenate all the extra blood.

Regardless of my situation, it's worth getting checked out, just incase it is something!
