I'm 8+5 pg with no. 2 and I am sick as a dog. I had full blown HG with DS and when I was pg last summer (sadly ended in mc) I was pretty ill also, so I knew there was a fairly sizeable risk this might happen if I got pg again and (I thought) I was pretty prepared. Over the last week it's been getting worse by the day, though Sad

I'm up half the night being sick, I can't stomach most food, I'm weak, shaky, nauseous and dizzy a lot of the time and I haven't been able to leave the house for more than an hour or so at a time for a few days now.

I've got cyclazine from GP though I have been a bit reluctant to take them after mc but I'm thinking if I have another night like last night I'll have no other option. I'm supposed to be back to work on Monday but I think I'm going to phone my GP tomorrow and get a line, something I was hoping to avoid, but I can't get dressed let alone drive to work and do my job in this state!

Anyway, my main question - if you have or have had HG in your pg and you have another DC to look after (my DS is 28 months) how did you cope? I can just about get by with looking after myself as long as I stay in bed, drink water and sleep as much as I can and DH has been doing a lot but he's back to work now, my mum has DS today but she's back to work on Monday and that really only leaves me with childminder a couple of days a week and MIL the rest of the time, and I don't like to impose that much! I'm hoping (like with DS) sickness will have cleared up a lot by 13 weeks but that's still 4 or 5 weeks to go - anyone got any tips? Did your DH take dependency leave? Help much appreciated! Thanks Thanks

I've not got much useful advice but I had full blown Hg with dd the first time round, lasted till the day she came out.

this time t hasn't been as bad I'm still throwing up a lot but compared to last time it dosent seem too bad. dd is 3.6 now and goes to school so i do get some rest, but when shes home i just give her loads of glitter, stickers, glue ... and she happily plays by herself.
Also dont worry about plopping them in front of the tv for a bit.
And just ask for help from your family, i know you dont like to impose i dont either but mil is fab. she helps taking dd to school etc and says shes happy to make things easier for me.

I do take the cyclezene the doctor prescribed but dont take the reccommended 3 a day. I just try with one a day or if its a very bad day I take 2.
Hope you do settle down soon.

Thanks seeking! I started taking the cyclazine a couple of days ago and like you im only taking one or two a day unless the sickness is awful. I've totally caved and just been sending DS round to mil or my mum and taking loads of help. 9+1 now and with DS sickness was gone by 13 weeks so hopefully wont be too long til I'm back on my feet again. It can be frustrating tjo!

Littlemiss, I know how you feel as I'm also suffering from HG however I don't have any other children so I have no advice to offer. Go onto the hyperemesis support thread...it's a wonderful group of women who can understand how you feel and many of them have other children and may be able to offer you advice.

I'll def check that out Reebok thanks! Doesnt help to have so many friends who have also had kids but never had HG and some seem to think ur just laying it on thick!! Like anyone would choose to be in this state!!

Hi. I have a 18 month dd. coming up to 14 weeks now and managing on one cyclizone a day not but I was in hospital and was signed off work since 7 weeks.

My mum had dd and nursery. Dh looked after her weekends. When I had her cbeebees was our friend. Until I got pregnant dd never watched tv other than in the morning while dh and I were getting ready for work.

If I stopped early last time hopefully it will be similar- so 4-5 weeks isn't long in the scheme if thingsGrin. Take all the help you can, where you can and when you can

I completely underestimated how ill I was - until I started to feel normal again!

Hope you feel better soon

Thats good to hear!! Feel v guilty DS is watching so much cbeebies at the min but at the end of the day it's cold and eet outdoors and it's Jan so we're broke anyway! At least cos of xmas he's got a lot of fab new toys to entertain himself with. Just counting the days 9+2 now and im managing on two tablets a day. Hopefully by the time Feb comes we'll be back to walks in forest & going swimming & fun stuff again. In the meantime, bed rest and Greys Anatomy boxsets - need to phone GP today and get a line for work. Nice to hear from other pukey ladies :)
