Anyone know anything about Doppler scans to detect pre-eclampsia?

I had late onset pre-eclampsia with DD1 (induced at 38 weeks, all fine) and no pre-e with DD2. With DD2 I was given placental doppler scans but the readings were all fine. I'm now pregnant with DC3 and had a private 20 week scan where they gave me a placental Doppler and said that both uterine arteries were showing high pressure. The right was 1.65 PI and the left was 1.76. Does anyone know how high this is or now good an indiicator of problems it is?

I called my NHS midwife to explain but she said I would need to speak to the consultant and as I'm due to see him at 24 weeks she said to wait. I'm happy to wait unless those readings need earlier action. Does anyone know if they do? Should I push to see the consultant sooner?

TIA.

I also had uterine dopplers with DD, I don't know what the numbers were, just that high resistance is an indicator that you maybe at risk of developing pre-eclapsia, not that you def will. I think they use them as part of a combination of things like the BP checks and checking for protein in urine and bloods, to monitor you, rather than a single diagnostic thing.
Horrible thing with pre-eclapsia is that you can't really predict when it will strike, sorry sounds a bit waffly I think what I am trying to say is that as long as they are keeping an eye on you, they are likely to pick up any pre-eclapsia quickly, and if they had been really concerned about them, they would have got you an earlier appt?. Was bubba right size? As higher resistance can lead to growth restriction, if growing well, then it's likely to be nothing to worry about now and a review in 4 weeks should be fine.
I think the NHS midwife was ducking out a bit tho, she should have been able to put your mind at rest.

OP I was high risk for pre-ec diagnosed with the Doppler and I had PI's similar to yours.

Casting my mind back to what I was told ... I think the consultant said it is normal for the uterine artery PI to get lower by 20 weeks but that some women don't see a decrease until 24 weeks so they got me back for an additional scan then to double check.

Mine stayed high but I was fine until 39+5 when I felt a bit ill and there started to be a bit of protein in my urine (up until then there had been none) so they induced just to be safe.

I am sure you will be fine waiting for the appt although I agree about the midwife ducking the issue, not helpful!

However, if you are worried, there's no harm in asking to see the consultant; I was told to make sure I kept my stress levels down so if it would make you feel better, it might be worth it.

Thanks all. That Mount Sinai link is interesting as it does suggest I'm under the 95th centime whereas my report says "increased pressure outside 5th to 95th centile". Luckily neither artery had a notch which sounds good according to that link.

Although I never had pre-e with DC2 I had 3+ protein from 32 weeks but my BP stayed steady.
