Thought of starting a new thread called Jasper's embarrassing pregnancy aches.
Sore hips, heartburn, and now piles.
I have had them mildly off and on throughout my pregnancy, but have kept the really awful ones at bay by drinking fibogel, eating plenty of fibre, and not "straining at stool" - lovely euphemism.
However today they have blown up with a vengeance. Look away now if you have a weak stomach - it is like having two grapes poking out my bahookie. They are agony. I had to come home early from work as I could neither sit down nor walk. I came home and lay on my side and cried!
A hot bath helps, but only when I am in it. I have tried about four types of creams - preparation H, Proctosedyl, nupericaine, and Anusol ( some of these were on prescription fom last time around),.These all help a little.
Also tried cold compresses, witch hazel, arnica ( all worse than useless)
Last preganancy this acute phase lasted about three days.Im not sure my sanity will hold out. I may have to stop work and sit in the bath day and night!
I tried the search function as I am sure you are all sick to death of my ailments but the only piles mentioned were piles of laundry.
My dh helpfully offered to get out the wire brush and dettol. I know it was his way of trying to make me laugh, but I just started crying again. Mind you it certainly takes my mind off the achey hips.
Any good ideas?

sorry for the graphic detail here but yesterday I was almost in tears due to the pain of newly forming piles so asked my husband to have a look to see if there was anything out of the ordinary (other than piles), he was so lovely that he took a picture to show me as he noted that they were different colours (thank goodness for digital cameras where u can snap, look and delete) I was mortified at what I saw...however, the newly forming one was the one of a different colour showing a more recent supply of blood and boy does it hurt, squeezing itself in beside the others. I didnt have any problem with them really while pregnant the first time but since then and now being pregnant again, they keep changing and getting either worse or better depending on how they feel about life themselves.

A couple of months back, i found sitting on a hot water bottle both aided the blood supply and reduction of the piles but see the new ones...they are too sore to even contemplate that idea :( It is very nice to know that you are not the only one being tortured in such ways (although not a nice experience for anyone)

I have always suffered with piles for years, it might be a thrombosed pile, they are incredibly painful. I've had 1 a couple of times, first time I left the doctor cut it out - never again! It recurred and I couldn't sit on my bum properly for 3 weeks! The second time I just waited for it to merge back in with my body (there's a word for it that the doctor used but I can't remember what it is) and that was far more bearable than after he'd cut it but still feckin' painful.
I thought I'd get awful ones with pregnancy and I have had 1 pop out (which I've never really had before) but I'm hypnobirthing so have to practice birth breathing on the toilet and, with the exception of yesterday, which I put down to baby pressure down there as the pile pain came on when I was just sitting down on the sofa, I've had no problems with it. The not straining when trying to poo helps so much, I wouldn't have believed it. I always have branflakes for breakfast every morning and drink fluids and that keeps me regular and the piles painfree. Ask your doctor for some suppositories, that's what I use as I find cream is crap.

This is my first time using this site - just comforting to know other people are in the same boat. I am sitting here, 1am, unable to sleep despite having to get up for work at 6am. Pregnancy has been fine so far yet in the past three weeks, I've been put on drugs for pretty severe acid reflux (which thankfully have done the trick - no more vomiting blood), antibiotics for a kidney infection and then (to top it off.....) at the weekend I developed piles. Never experienced anything so painful in my life!!! I am sitting here on a cushion and have tried all recommended pain relief strategies (ice pack, warm compress, warm bath, etc) - nothing working so far. Have even tried to 'push them in' after reading about this online - oh my goodness that was painful. Not sure mines are the type that can be pushed in. Never had them before so not sure if what I have is normal but they are large, swollen and very, very, painful. Think I have about 4 in total (or at least it looks like 4 large grapes in the mirror). I did ask my husband to have a look but he wasn't up for the challenge!! Feel like crying they are so sore. Think I'll visit the docs and see what they recommend.
