anyone have any crib recommendations? I'm going to buy a white one I love the shape of this one www.mothercare.com/OBaby-Sophie-Swinging-Crib---White/447492,default,pd.html with the top curve but I'm worried about generic mattress sizes to be slightly smaller and recommended mattress to have bad reviews?

we got our crib from babierus. They have a half price white one available: www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Nursery/Moses-Baskets-and-Cribs/Cambridge-Swinging-Crib-in-White(0100010)?searchPosition=7

I have two obaby Sophie cribs but in natural wood. The mattress fitted fine for DS 2.5 yrs ago but now I have my DT's in one each (I bought another one to match!) the second mattress is slightly too big (altho it fits - just raises up a bit at the bottom). To be honest if I had my time again I'd go for a glider crib as the sideways rockers mean baby can roll to one side and get stuck. For this reason I always lock the cribs which kind of defeats the object. You need to unlock it then if you want to rock them.

If you're ok with that though the obaby crib is a good robust one and a lot cheaper than others I looked at.

Which mattress did you buy for the baby crib? The baby one itself has bad reviews for being flimsy. But it's an odd size well out by a cm so buying any other mattress would be a cm smaller?

1cm difference is fine as you will need room for tucking in sheets, etc. The maximum difference between the mattress and cot/crib sides should not exceed 4cm so 1cm is ok. There are places you can order different mattress sizes from e.g. babymattressesonline

I think we have decided on the glider one in John Lewis. We had a look in store and their mattress looks fine

John Lewis mAttress is fine its the Obaby one that's the problem. Thought to buy a John Lewis mattress and crib sheets for the Obaby crib but then I was worried that baby has a mattress of 85x43 and the generic mattresses are 84x43. If you say that's ok dishwasher I may go with it. I know it's only a cm but you can get hung up on these things! I just like the arch curve feature on top. John lewis' one is slightly smaller but Id go or it or any other for convenience.
