Bladder problems

When I was pregnant with ds, I kept telling my midwife I needed a wee, would go, a bit of wee would trickle and I'd be left still needing a wee but not being able to go. This was a regular complaint from 8 weeks onwards. I was told that this was normal and baby was lying on bladder. I couldn't sleep during final trimester due to it.

I was 8 and half stone at my 8 week booking in appt. by the time I was due I'd put on 5 and half stone. I was told throughout that I had a big baby on board.

Following an easy labour, imagine my surprise when my ds weighed 8lbs, hardly massive. I was cathetered (in and out) during labour as I needed a wee but couldn't go,same as throughout the whole of pregnancy. I went for my bath after giving birth and wee'd a number of times in the bath. The pain was excruciating. I literally couldn't move. I was wheelchaired back to labour suite in agony where they cathetered me again. The pain instantly vanished. I passed 3ltrs of wee and remained in hospital for 3 days cathetered.

I am 7 weeks pregnant and already, feeling as I did during my first pregnancy. I need to wee, am desperate, will trickle and can't go anymore despite still needing loo.

This is making me feel so anxious. I hated my first pregnancy. I couldn't move at the end with the 5 and half stone weight gain, and I certainly do not want to go through the pain of after the birth again - it was worse than labour.

I'm worried I'm going to get fobbed off like last time, be told its normal and increase my body weight by 2/3 tone told I have a big baby.

Has this happened to anyone and were things different second time around?

Sorry no advice except I would insist on a genitourinary appt ASAP. I sympathise - when I got to hospital to give birth to dd they wanted a sample and I couldn't go. They asked when I had last peed and I realised it was 12 hours earlier and they cathetered me and drained a litre in a few minutes. Once I realised I hadn't been for ages it was so uncomfortable and that's one day so you have my utmost sympathy for all you are going through.

I will be going to the doctors and asking them to do something. The whole thing is getting me down, the thought of going through it again. On top of the 3ltrs cathetered, I managed to pee 300ml in bed pan before being carted back to labour suite and loads of wee in bath, they said it could have been up to 4ltrs, and were very surprised I hadn't damaged my bladder.

Just hope hope hope they listen to me this time when I tell them how bad it is before putting it down to baby. I remember my midwife doing checks and pushing in stomach and I cried out in pain, she told me if I think that is painful ill need to toughen up for the birth :(

I don't know what can be done about it in the meantime, they said they did not understand why it happened or what caused it and its extremely rare and said that the weight gain would have been water rather than baby as originally said.

Fingers crossed, hopefully they be more supportive this time around

You can always email head of midwifery at the hospital explaining all this and asking for urgent obstetrician appt to discuss.
