Reduced movements

Hi

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and for the last 2 days my baby's movements have reduced. I'm still feeling movement but not as much as the previous days. I've read conflicting advice and was wondering whether, at this stage, it's normal.

Please ring your MW or the labour ward for advice.

You are right, there is lots of conflicting advice - especially anecdotally and on forums etc - but recent guidance from the countthekicks campaign is to get medical advice ASAP, don't waste time faffing with cold drinks etc it could waste valuable time.

There are sadly far too many people who can attest to the fact that things can change very very quickly, babies can and do sadly die in the womb Sad and the need to be seen is paramount for anything that is not normal for your baby.

Please ring the maternity assessment ward & don't take no for an answer if you're concerned. There's a lot of bollocks information flying about that baby movements slow down in the final weeks, but this is not true. If you're concerned, go get yourself checked out. Please

The midwives will gladly reassure you if you call. They woui
LD much rather see you than not if you are at all concerned - call asap!

DoodleHolly · 28/12/2012 13:06

I'd call the ward. And if they say about drinking cold water etc explain this isn't a sudden thing but two days.

Pozzled · 28/12/2012 13:17

Agree with all the above. Always best to get checked out.

Radiator1234 · 28/12/2012 13:20

I would just either call the MW or go to antenatal. This happened to me last time at 38 wks I went to the hospital they strapped me up to a monitor and were able to reassure me that all was fine.

amyboo · 28/12/2012 13:38

Please go and get checked out asap. I don't want to scare you but I feltthe sae with DS2 at round 34 weeks, but onvinced myself I was worrying bout nothing. Needless to sat it didn't endwell for me :-( You can NEVER b toocautious bout movements...

bonzo77 · 28/12/2012 13:44

Get checked. NOW. Both my DS's lives were saved at least in part by me acting on reduced movements. A friend of mine did not act. Her baby was still born at 39 weeksSad. Don't be fobbed off. Don't phone first. Go to labour ward or maternity triage if you have it. You need ctg, possibly an ultra sound and Doppler on your placenta. Go!

Hi. Everything is fine. The CTG was normal and there was lots of movement while I was laid there! Feel completely reassured and will certainly go back if I'm worried again. Thanks for all your responses Smile
