Can the baby kick TOO much? Worried something is wrong in there

I am 28w.
She's been a really very active baby at certain times of day before but all day yesterday and quite a bit of the night she never seemed to stop!! I was resting all day (lazy Boxing Day) on the sofa and she is always usually at her most active when I am resting. But this was crazy!! Big movements and lots of them. Didn't count but she only took a few five or ten min rests over the course if about 4 hours. Big movements I could see as well as feel. Luckily I have a v long torso so plenty of room there and it isn't at all painful yet.

I know it sounds crazy but is this normal and should I be worried? Is she ok in there? Feels like she's trying to communicate something!!

If you're worried, go with your gut feeling. Phone midwife and have a chat, if you're not happy then insist on having a ctg trace to check all is well. Chances are all is fine, but your instincts will be strong and it's best to trust them.
All the best.

I had days and nights like this when I was pregnant with DS and the movements were so strong, and went in for such a long time, that it was sometimes scary!! He was fine though. I'm not sure what causes it but didn't want to read and run without letting you know I had the same and all was well Smile

Could be - changes in movement patterns is what you need to look out for. Call the midwife if you're worried, it's worth being checked out for peace of mind.

Thanks v much for replies !! We're actually setting off for my parents in an hour so I'm going to see if more activity quietens her down and then will contact the midwife later today if there's no change.
I had no idea it was CHANGES in movement you had to watch for, I thought it was just LESS movement...

Dd1 was incredibly active - this sounds pretty normal to me.

I also assumed it was only reduced movements you have to get checked out but could be wrong.

ohfunnyFRANKENface · 27/12/2012 08:07

I was identical to you, I asked my consultant and midwife and both said it was fine and normal. At 31 weeks now and still has bursts but not as frantic- must be getting a little less roomy in there!

It felt so hyper and as if he was having a tantrum!

worldgonecrazy · 27/12/2012 08:15

If you are worried, then go and get checked out. It does sound normal, my DD moved fairly constantly some days, but it's not worth staying worried when there are professionals who can put your mind at rest.

Hyperballad · 27/12/2012 08:19

I agree with everyone else to just double check things but it's likely to be all fine.

You are probably going to have some days where the opposite it true, and she hardly moves at all........probably tomorrow after tiring herself out!!

katolla · 27/12/2012 08:37

Mine was going absolutely bonkers yesterday from about 4am till midday, it was like she was playing the drums in there. It's probably weird Xmas food and a different pattern to the day. She went back to normal after that. I think it's fine and its only no movement you've got to worry about.

OodKingWenceslas · 27/12/2012 09:17

Was she turning? Dc4 is v active ( though still nowhere near dd2) and gets very active then turns.

McPheastOfStephen · 27/12/2012 09:24

My pregnancy was like this ALL the way through. I had way too much amniotic fluid which made it easy for baby to flip/turn/starjump Hmm

Dd is now 6 months, and has been exactly the same since hitting dry land Grin

But if you are at all concerned then contact your care giver
