Why stuff like this couldn't happen in the middle of a Monday afternoon when I could get a Dr appointment I'll never know! Xmas Hmm

I'm 7wks pg (having had a successful scan on friday!), and about 2 hours ago I lost my mucus plug (def. the plug, not iccky looking discharge), five minutes ago I started cramping.
I still 'feel' pregnant.

I had a mc at the end of October, so am (hopefully) probably just being a melodramatic pessimist.
Has this happened to anyone else who went on to have a lovely, boring, non-dramatic pg in the months that followed?

Should I continue to wallow on the sofa dramatically?

I don't want to phone NHS direct (and be told to go sit in A&E with the holiday drunks) and want to avoid Dr.Google, so MN has to put up with my post instead!

If you read all of this, thanks very much.

I could very well be wrong but I was under the impression that mucus plug didn't start forming until 7w so would be surprised if it was so well formed by now to be able to say you've def lost it. Also, its a good sign there's no bleeding.

You're probably ok but are prob going to feel super stressed & upset until you find out for sure. Where do you live as some hospitals have early pregnancy units where you can go in & get a reassurance scan if you're concerned.

Good luck & really hope all is ok

aww what a horrible time of year to be all stressing! How bad are your cramps?

If you only had a scan yesterday & no heavy bleeding since I would personally try to not worry much. I'm not convinced I would really know if I lost plug compared to icky discharge.

If your cramps are very painful though then best to seek medical advice, don't forget non pregnancy things can cause cramps too.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 22/12/2012 23:49

username, I did eat my bodyweight in toffee popcorn earlier, so maybe my stomach is very angry at me.
Cramps aren't bad enough for paracetamol, so hoping it's the popcorn!

All my discharge has been clear since getting pg, this was a massive lump of green tinged gloop, and since then it's been back to clear again.
I don't think it's the start of a UTI as I've got no other symptoms (I get UTI's quite often and normally know when one is coming up).

Thank you all for replying.

Gary I have had green/ yellow cm at about 10 wks then a couple of times since as have a few other girls on threads I've been on, I was convinced it sounded like the plug but only had it 1 day and went back to normal after and had a healthy scan at 13 wks and 16! I think it sounds like normal pregnancy discharge for alot of women. Your fear will be majoritly through mc ( I too have had 2 since dd and pregnancies have never been quite the same since) but I think you can get up and stop wallowing lol Grin

kittenskittenskittens · 23/12/2012 02:16

Oh and lay off the popcorn lol Wink

kittenskittenskittens · 23/12/2012 02:18

P.s mine was just like snot/EWCM too as was the others, I few googles revealed it to be pretty common

Bunnychan · 23/12/2012 08:39

I had snotty cm in the first trimester too. Gross isn't it x

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 23/12/2012 08:47

I have yellowish/ faint greenish blobs of cm and I'm 6 wks pg and "cramps" when I need to use the toilet. They go every time after I've been so it must just be bladder and/or bowel pressing on the womb. No bleeding.

I really hope it's just one of those things, try using the loo and see how you feel after? I can't blame you for thinking the worst, I mc in October and trust me I'm doing a LOT of agonising and knicker checking. Best of luck. x

WingDefence · 23/12/2012 09:12

Hi Gary - could it be thrush or some other infection? I'm guessing it may be difficult to get a GP appt tomorrow but it might be worth checking to try to put your mind at rest for Christmas itself?

Pontouf · 23/12/2012 09:13

Yeah I had a couple of instances of horrible snotty gloopy discharge during the first trimester with this pg. Freaked me out as I've had two previous mcs but I am now 25 weeks with a very wriggly baby! I really wouldn't start worrying yetZ

lollypopsicle · 23/12/2012 09:35

I have heard that you can 'lose' and regenerate the mucous plug throughout pregnancy.
Fwiw I've had horrid gloppy pant snot now and again throughout this pregnancy so far and did so last time too. Sometimes it's A LOT! I believe it's quite common.
Try not to worry and take heart in the successful scan you had x

waiting...

Grimbles · 21/07/2018 21:34

Why? Hmm

wewantbabiesnow · 02/08/2018 22:43

Had Ultrasound today. they did both top and vaginal and confirmed that nothing is left behind so NO D/C required. they took blood and said not to try again until the HGC levels are below 50 but preferably below 25.

I said "I've read about women getting pregnant at ovulation after miscarriage BEFORE a period" she said that's true, but it's important to wait for the hormone levels to go down first, because otherwise if you get pregnant and your levels are still up from the miscarriage, they don't know what rate your levels are increasing so it's hard to measure the new babies growth etc.. or know if you're really pregnant or if it's hormones leftover from the miscarriage.

We're praying like crazy that my levels are below 50 so we can start trying tomorrow.
