Jumperoo or electric swing

Hi,

Which would you recommend, a jumperoo or an electric swing?

I'm worried that a jumperoo may be just too much ott stimulation. But I do like the fact that baby gets to jump around.

How old is your baby? We had both of these (battry powered swing) because a local childminder was selling both for £40.

The swing was great before 6 months and meant I got to eat whilst DS was amused / asleep, the jumperoo for a later age when he wanted to jump about and explor, both good, just for different stages.

By the time ds was enjoying his jumperoo he was too old for his swing. Aimed at completely different (short lived) stages.

If you guy an electric swing, does it need a bouncer too??

Prob is diff babies like different things - I found a swing a lifesaver and haven't had a bouncer for the last 2.

I get everything secondhand as well

I had a bouncer and a swing, I found the swing good for calming him down when he was unsettled, and it encouraged him to nap when nothing else would work!

The bouncer was good for putting him in when he was awake, but I needed my hands free. So he'd sit in it and watch me cook or do laundry.

We had a swing for DS from when he was born. He liked it when he was very little, but once he got a bit older he didn't want to go in it anymore.

A Jumperoo is great, but you cannot use it from birth. It's more of an activity thing for a slightly older baby. I think we got ours around 4 or 5 months.

I had an electric swing for all 3 of mine and a no-frills bouncy chair for DS3. I preferred the bouncy chair because I could hold the baby in one hand and chair in the other and move it around easily. The swing was a lot bulkier and heavier.

We bought DS1 a jumperoo for his first christmas when he was 5 months old and it was brilliant. He loved being in it and I could do things like have a shower, cook or tidy knowing he was safe and couldn't go anywhere. It was handy to put DS3 in while the older boys were playing with lego/marbles etc too.

I didn't have a swing but just used a baby bouncer chair thing that had a detachable toy arch and a vibration setting so it could soothe baby to sleep - and I used it everyday and really found it useful. we used this when my ds was newborn up until he was sitting up on his own and even used it to sit him in once we started weaning etc before he was ready for a big highchair.

The Jumperoo - possibly the best thing we ever spent our money on at the time!
You can only start to use this once the baby can support its self (sit up right etc on it's own unaided) but it is fantastic for keeping them safe and amused so that you can get on a do exciting things like the washing up! : ) I would highly recommend and although expensive, you can re sell on ebay etc for a decent price once you have finished using it.

Simple solution... Buy a Mamaroo (or whatever), when your baby can sit up, they are too big, so sell it and buy a jumperoo x
