Hi all.
I pulled my back last night at work and have since had some cramping and pains, nothing excruciating but uncomfortable. Tried to see the midwife today but she's full today and tomorrow so they put me down for emergency doctor, I've not seen him before and he was more interested in sticking his knuckles in my back, which hurt, than checking to see if the baby was ok. I asked if it would be ok and he just said 'yeah it'll be fine' and told me to take paracetamol. I don't know what to do now cos I'm still worried but don't want to look or feel like an idiot :(

To be honest, if you went to see him because you have a bad back, he's going to be more interested in that than your (presumably otherwise healthy) pregnancy. You don't mention where you had the pains (i.e your back or abdo?), however cramps / pains are a normal part of pregnancy as your ligaments stretch and your body adapts to the changes.
Pregnancy isn't an illness, so provided you're not experiencing any other symptoms, such as bleeding or spotting, I would relax, give my back a rest and take the paracetamol.

Sorry it was a bit garbled :/ I twisted my back at work as well as my belly, but the stopped hurting and I got the cramps a few hours later, no spotting but just lots of cramps that I've not had before in this stage of pregnancy, bit like heavy period pains right down in the bottom of my belly :/ maybe I'm just worried for no reason

If you are worried I would call the midwife - they are MUCH more experienced than GPs at all this pregnancy palaver. They will put your mind at rest, or give any necessary advice.

How many weeks are you?

Usually the midwife at your surgery is part of a wider group of midwives attached to a hospital. They can be called as you can talk to any of them it doesn't have to be the one you see for your regular appointments.
I phoned up today for the first time and they were very helpful and clearly used to fielding calls from nervous/worried mum-to-bes.
Do you have your green maternity notes yet - their number should be on there. If not your surgery might be able to give you a number to call.
