Incompetent/Weak Cervix...how long until I labour

Hi.

This is my first time on here....be gentle :oD

At 27 weeks i was diagnosed with a short and funneling cervix (2.4cm) within 2 weeks this had reduced to 0.7. I was admitted at 29 weeks and put on cyclogest and nefadapine (probably spelt incorrectly). My cervix is now 0.9 cms and am having tightwnings every day, am currently 32+1 wks.

At first i was put on complete bed rest and am now on modified bed rest (can use toilet and have a daily shower), other than that I am in bed with feet up.

Last week my consultant also observed that my cervix is, in his words, incredibly weak...

I'm really hating being in hospital but am also feeling guilty as i know tha this is for the good of the baby...

I just wondered if anyone had experienced this or anything similar? And if so, whats the average gestation that people have laboured at?

Apologies for the poor typing, the hospital screen/internet is quite slow and unresponsive...

My dsis had this, 1st baby arrived at 26wks, and unfortunately died 5 days later. Now she has 3 healthy dc, it happened in all 3 of her subsequent pg's and she went over term with all of them!

I can't answer your questions but being laid up in hospital is really shit. Especially as you probably feel healthy enough in yourself. Don't feel bad about that. I just wanted to say, you're at 32 weeks and this is already a good gestation! Obviously, each day/week extra is to the good, but you've done great to get to where you are. Babies born at 32/33 weeks are generally do very well. They need time to fatten and grow before being discharged but lots of the problems with early babies (breathing issues in particular) are now much lower risk because the body's systems are pretty much mature now. By 35 weeks you can expect to be discharged the same time as baby. Best of luck with the rest.
