32 weeks pregnant, fell over in the street today

Hi All,
Little bit of advice / reassurance needed if possible. I tripped in the street today (it would appear walking and talking at the same time is a stretch too far for my coordination at the minute!) and took a bit of a tumble. Instinctively twisted my body as I feel so I didn't impact 'full frontal' but more to the side. Didn't hurt myself in the slightest, and bump was well padded under lots of wintery layers. Baby gets a lot of naturally cushioning from my body, right? I shouldn't be worried about this? Or should I call NHS direct / MW to check? Have felt some movement since it happened, but (s)he is generally more active in the evening anyway so thought I'd wait and see how much movement I feel tonight.
Like I said, didn't hurt myself at all. But am surprised at how upset I feel about having fallen over. Upset, and annoyed with myself!

Bless you hope it didn't shake you up too much, I'm 32 weeks too and it's getting harder to get around esp with the bad weather. Think just to be on the safe side and be reassured give the midwife or your pregnancy assessment ward at the hospital a call

I fell down a flight of stairs at 34 weeks I really hurt myself and was convinced I had done something awful to my baby but he was born perfectly healthy 6 weeks later. I'm sure your baby will be absolutely fine, try not to feel bad about it. Smile

I fell over around 32 weeks, and even though I cleverly landed on my well cushioned bottom because it was in a large London train station they called an ambulance (and all was fine). Do visit A&E or similar just to be 100% sure that all is well.

I doubt it's done any harm if you didn't fall full on your bump, the baby is well protected behind strong muscles and all they probably felt was the ripples in your amniotic fluid, it might be worth a call to nhs direct just to put your mind at rest, the fact you've felt him/her move is a good sign too.

Lovely Mumsnet Ladies...as I've come to expect Smile. Just called MW, just in case. Should have done that straight away really (of course!). She's assured me that everything sounds absolutely fine, but if I notice a reduction in foetal movement, bleeding or tenderness around the point at which bump met pavement, to go to A&E.
I know logically it's all fine - just feeling a bit sensitive I guess.
Thank you again for the hand holding!

how you feeling today?

Mammy2Be · 08/12/2012 14:37

All good today thanks TrueBlood . Movement last night was very much at it's usual level (ie VERY active). So feeling much more relaxed. Phew!

Hi I understand what u mean about being angry about falling over! I feel so angry with myself too I slipped getting out of the bath last week and broke my ankle and sprained my wrist. I am 34 weeks pregnant and feel like I have ruined the last few weeks for me and my partner. I was planning a water birth but doubt I can have that now. And what's worse I will still be in plaster cast when the baby arrives!
