Apologies, I can't find the MC&pregnancy loss thread anywhere on the app...anybody know what it's under?

Has anybody continued going to work through a mc? I'm nearly 7 weeks. I'm certain of my dates as my periods were completely clockwork. Was admitted to hospital 2 days ago with bleeding & cramps. Scan showed just sac & yolk - potentially ok for 5 weeks but not the stage im at sp only hope would be if dates were wrong which i know theyre not. Now have totally lost all symptoms (boobs actually feel deflated). This pregnancy hasn't felt 'right' from the start. Now I'm really just waiting, although I do have another scan in 2 weeks if I get that far.

Don't want to take time off work as already did when in hospital & don't like lying to them. Will it be possible / realistic to keep working through mc? & when is it likely to happen presuming baby stopped developing at 5 weeks?

Hmm

I did. Was only about 5-6 weeks and it was just like a heavy period.
I hadn't told anyone other than dp, so just decided just to carry on, was physically fine and was able to just put out of my mind which going to work helped with.

I did. Was 6 weeks and apart from more cramping than usual it was very like a heavy period. I had told my boss as my job at the time was very physical, he was very supportive and I managed okay.
I'm sorry you are having to go through this

I worked through it too but did go home early on a couple of days as the bleeding was very heavy and the cramps were fierce. I m/c'd at 11 weeks so was a bit further along.

Don't put too brave a face on it though - take the time off if you need to. I found the chemical come down a bit disconcerting and I was quite weepy for a while.

I am sorry for your loss.

Hi so sorry for your loss. I suffered two m/c close together last year. I had 3 weeks off with the first and one with the second. My bosses did know and they were amazing about it.With the first one i was 11 weeks and passed the baby (even now can't call it anything but, it's still raw) a week after i started to bleed and second time i was 5 weeks and it took longer it took two weeks. I did have very heavy cramping contraction like pains with both and very heavy blood loss.

You need to be kind to yourself it is a loss and a grieving process. Listen to your body.

Take care

Hi Boy (we were on JS ttc fred together, I nc-ed recently so you many not remember me), I'm so sorry for your loss.

Did you go into work today?

I'm a SAHM, but physically would've been fine for a day at work, I had a mc at 5 weeks & it was no worse than a heavy period.
Emotionally I was all over the place when I mc-ed, burst into tears at anyone on tv/in the paper with children/pregnant for a few days.

Hope you're being well looked after by OH, take care. x

I think you need to see how you are physically. I have had two - 8 weeks and 5 weeks and could have/did work through both of them (although the later one started at a weekend). Both were just like heavy periods.

I guess everybody is different, and apart from the physical issues there are also the emotional ones to consider. Also the type of work you do would also factor.

I've had 4 mc (12, 10, 15 and 9 weeks) with only the last one a mmc and identified at a scan. With that one I worked until the day of the ERPC, about 2 weeks after the first scan, and then had a few days off. The others tended to start spontaneously overnight so I had a day or two at home and then back in to work.

Only you can decide what is best for you.

BoyMeetsWorld · 06/12/2012 17:15

Thanks all for the advice.

I still haven't had it 100% confirmed until scan in two weeks but sometimes you just know don't you - there are far too many factors all in combination to hope really. So I don't know when it will start but I don't think will be long.

Went into work today, no more bleeding but bad back / buttocks pain. My work is not physical at all but really can't tell employers - they hate planned pregnancies so I might get away with this but would then be treated very badly I think if I got pregnant again anytime soon. So I'm going to have to try & work through it...

Sorry to you all for your losses in the past too. It's so scary how common it is. Makes me very sad...

I started to mc at work was 12 weeks, obviously went to hospital and they confirmed it as a mmc. Thought I was ok to go back after a week. I ended up loosing alot of blood and had to stay in a hotel bathroom for an hour until the bleeding stopped (luckily I worked at a hotel really) I took another 2 weeks after that. In hindsight I would of stayed at home for the 3 weeks and rested as much as possible. Hope it's good news for you.
